Are you looking to surprise your family with a unique dish that will light up your weeknight dinners? If so, then this creamy steak fettuccine recipe is just for you.

Boil The Pasta

The first thing you’ll need is to get your hands on some fettuccine pasta. Buy as much pasta as your family needs, place it in some boiling salted water, and cook until al dente.

Add the Steak

For this recipe, you’ll need a juicy slice of sirloin steak. Coat both sides with oil and sprinkle salt and pepper. Cook at medium-high heat and allow it to cool for 10 minutes once done. Then, it’s time to cut the steak into thin, tender slices.

Add The Finishing Touches

Once both the steak and pasta are ready, it’s time to combine. If you’re looking for even more flavor, consider sprinkling some parmesan and parsley into the already delectable dish.

This pasta dish derives its richness from the addition of buttermilk and its warmth from cinnamon bark. Quick and delicious for lunch or dinner, this recipe serves 4 to 6.

Ingredients

  1. 1 28-oz can whole peeled tomatoes
  2. 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  3. 1 tablespoons shallot,  minced
  4. 1 whole bay leaf
  5. 1 whole cinnamon stick
  6. 2 teaspoon raisins,  chopped
  7. 1 cup white mushrooms,  finely chopped
  8. Sea salt
  9. A pinch of sugar
  10. 21⁄2cups cups buttermilk
  11. 1 lb. fettuccine

Method

  • Blend the tomatoes until coarsely puréed.
  • Sautee the shallot in the olive oil for 2 minutes.
  • Add the tomato purée, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, raisins, and mushrooms. Season with a pinch each of salt and sugar, then bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and continue cooking until the mushrooms are soft and the sauce is slightly thickened (approx. 1 hour).
  • Cook the fettuccini for 5 to 6 minutes until still slightly crunchy. Drain and rinse in cold water.
  • Add the buttermilk to a large pot and set over medium-high heat. When simmering, add the fettuccine and cook, tossing constantly with tongs, until al dente (5-6 minutes). Drain the pasta, toss with the tomato sauce, and serve immediately.
