Did you know that you can make a bigger batch of cookie dough and just freeze some of it to have ready when you need it? Most of us know that we can freeze cookies, but we haven’t considered freezing the dough. Turns out, it’s actually a better alternative because you’ll have the dough ready when you want to bake some fresh cookies.

How to Do It

Use your favorite cookie dough recipe to prepare it. If it requires chilling, put it in the fridge for a while. Get the baking sheet and drop spoonfuls of dough onto it, then put in the freezer for around an hour. Remove and transfer the individual dough balls into plastic bags. Don’t forget to write the date: the frozen dough should be used within 3 months. Once you want to bake the cookies, simply transfer them from the plastic bag to the baking pan with no need to thaw them first.

As you can see, you need to have a relatively big freezer that can hold the entire baking sheet for the first part of the freezing process. If your cookie dough balls aren’t completely solid before you transfer them to plastic bags, they will basically turn into one big cookie and that’s not something you want to put in the oven and bake!
