]]> Siew Boon is a jelly artist and the owner of Jelly Alchemy. She uses seaweed jelly and natural coloring to create mesmerizing 3D jelly cakes.

“I began my journey more than two years ago,” she shares. “Unfortunately, in late 2017 I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I had to put my business on hold as I had to undergo treatment. However, I was determined not to let cancer get in the way from doing what I loved. On the days when I was feeling well, I dedicated my time to create 3D jelly cakes for my team of doctors and carers.”

Siew explains that focusing on making jelly cakes helped her deal with the illness. It takes up to 4 hours to complete a single cake but she doesn’t see it as a chore. “The most satisfying part of my job besides showcasing my creativity is to be able to bring joy to others,” she says.
