The first variety of sushi that we’ll mention in our guide is the most common sushi variety, especially at foreign restaurants. This type of sushi is what is often referred to as a “roll,” with an outer layer of seaweed enclosing sushi rice, fish, and vegetables.
Nigiri is one of the most elegant forms of sushi. It consists of a chunk of sushi rice with a topping served on it, which is usually a high-grade fish. Simple, yet delicious, it is a versatile variety that allows for lots of creativity.
Sashimi is the simplest form of sushi. It literally consists only of fish or shellfish served by itself and with no rice or vegetables. It is the form of sushi that you’ll want to go to with high-quality seafood since it lets the flavor shine.
Temaki is the least-known variety on the list, but one of the most exciting. It it a “cone” of sushi that has been rolled by hand. This variety is wrapped in seafood which creates a sort of burrito with rice, fish, and vegetables on the inside. Yum!
