A cafe in Asakusa neighborhood in Tokyo will serve 1,000 bowls of piranha ramen – they call it Yano’s piranha-men – from September 20th to 23rd. The ramen will be made with 300 kilos (660 pounds) of piranha imported from Brazil and will be the first ramen of its kind in Japan, and maybe even in the world. And it all started as a joke.

CEO of event company Holiday Jack, Tom Yano, came up with the idea while on a vacation in Brazil. He was fishing, cooking, and eating piranha every day there thanks to the locals who shared their recipes with him. His favorite wasa soup called caldo de piranha, a specialty of the Pantanal region of Brazil. He thought the taste of the soup would match ramen perfectly.

When he came back to Japan, he posted an article to his company’s website where he announced a piranha ramen event – but it was just an April Fool’s joke. What he didn’t expect was that he would receive over 500 calls from people interested to try this new delicacy, so he decided to follow through with the idea after all. Would you try piranha ramen?

Day 324- Today’s animal is the Piranha. This animal was suggested by @_karadee_. Fact 1) The female lays around 5000 eggs then the male will fertilize the eggs. The male will then protect the eggs and become very territorial of them. The piranhas will spawn from the eggs after a few days. They have two spawning periods, one in April/May and a second in the late summer time. Fact 2) Many animals prey upon piranhas (especially young piranhas), including other piranhas, larger fish, caimans, water snakes, turtles, birds, otters and people. Fact 3)The word piranha literally translates as “tooth fish” in the indigenous Brazilian language of Tupi. EXTRA FACT)There is believed to be somewhere between 30 and 60 different piranha species. However, the exact number is unknown, debated and not yet scientifically proven. There are over 20 different species found in the Amazon river alone. – Tag friends who would love this! – – If you see this from the explore page then follow me @dailyanimalfactss for more!! – – 1st photo:https://pixabay.com/photos/piranha-fish-dangerous-underwater-3495677/ 2nd photo:https://www.flickr.com/photos/nostri-imago/2892679970 3rd photo:https://www.flickr.com/photos/michalogiorgakis/5261265522 – – ⚠No copyright infringement is intended so dm me for credit if picture is yours!⚠ – – #animals #animal #animalsofig #animalsofinsta #animalsofinstagram #cuteanimals #coolanimals #animalkingdom #animalfacts #facts #dailyanimalfacts #piranha #piranhas #fish #fishes #fishofig #fishofinstagram #fishofinsta #sea #ocean #water #underwater #underwaterphotography #marinelife #marineanimals #seaanimals
