We’ve compiled a short list of our favorite panini press sandwiches to try on a panini press.

Caprese

A classic Italian favorite. Grab yourself a loaf of Italian bread, fresh mozzarella- and heirloom tomato slices, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper. This sandwich is quick, easy, and satisfying! Serve it with a tomato soup, hand cut fries, or on its own!

Turkey Pesto

This sandwich is best served on ciabatta or sourdough, with turkey slices, pesto, avocado, and cheese. Serve this alongside sweet pickles and chips and enjoy!

Roast Beef

Roast beef and caramelized onions – best on rustic Italian bread, rare roast beef, sweet onions,
and horseradish mustard. Serve with a side of horseradish pickles and or cheddar cheese.

Grilled Veggies

The possibilities are endless with this one! Best served on Italian sandwich bread, your choice of veggies, such as zucchini, eggplant, and roasted peppers. Enjoy as is or crank it up a notch with some pesto and mozzarella.

Tuna Melt

Best on sourdough; you can use tuna salad or canned tuna, cheddar cheese, and sliced tomato! Serve with a pickle and crisps!

Caprese salads are one of my favorite things about Italian gastronomy. They are made with a beautifully simple recipe that somehow manages to create just the most perfect dish.

Don’t be afraid to take your caprese salad to the next level, making it in panini form and finding another great way to implement this Italian staple into your diet.

Here’s a great recipe for a caprese panini that’s utterly easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices fresh ciabatta bread
  • One medium-sized tomato
  • Four fresh basil leaves
  • 2 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic reduction
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions

Start off by washing the tomato and the basil leaves. Once you’ve done this, slice the tomato into pieces that are an appropriate size for your sandwich.

Next, take one slice of ciabatta bread. Place the two slices of fresh mozzarella on the bottom. On top, add the tomato slices and then the fresh basil leaves.

After this, take the other piece of ciabatta bread and drizzle it with the balsamic reduction and a bit of extra-virgin olive oil.

Then put some kosher salt and black pepper (to taste) on top of the ingredients of the other side of the sandwich.

The next thing you’ll want to do is combine the two pieces of bread and ingredients and put it into a sandwich toaster.

Wait until the sandwich is toasted, and you’re done. Enjoy!
