]]>Proteau is the first drink of its kind. It’s a botanical aperitif created by the bar director at Momofuku John deBary. It’s made of blackberry juice with hints of black pepper, fig vinegar, chrysanthemum, and licorice root. It looks a lot like wine and it’s meant to be enjoyed alone, without mixing with other drinks or ice. Its creator recommends chilling proteau and leaving it in room temperature for a few minutes before drinking it.
“Whatever everyone else is doing, I try to do… not that,” deBary told Food and Wine. “One of the biggest reasons I wanted to make this is because there’s such a lack of credible nonalcoholic drinks—that’s changing, but it’s still nowhere near the craft renaissance we’ve seen in wine, beer, and spirits.”

]]>The liquor, which is similar to brandy, originates from grapes used to make wine in Chile and Peru. It’s common in the West Coast region of South America and is a perfect drink to enjoy the warm and sunny climate of the region.
Pisco can be found at most decent liquor stores, so be sure to find it before embarking on this flavor adventure! If not, your pisco sour just won’t taste right. Here’s the recipe.
Start off by adding all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Be sure to add ice, as this will chill down the drink to its desired temperature.
Shake the ingredients thoroughly, enough to create the characteristic foam for which the beverage is known.
Strain into a glass, and serve immediately. If you’d like, you can sprinkle a dash or two of angostura bitters into the drink, but they aren’t necessary.
Enjoy!

]]>The cold weather and short days can kill creativity and energy. Fear not, however, as this Irish Coffee recipe will warm up your body and soul, and will also have you whipping up drinks like a bartending master!
Start off by brewing two shots of strong espresso. Be sure that the coffee is high-quality and that it’s brewed plenty strong. This is important, as you don’t want the alcohol and the sweetness to overcome the coffee essence of the beverage.
Pour the coffee into a tumbler glass. Then, add the 1.5 teaspoons of brown sugar and stir to combine.
After this comes the Irish whiskey. You can use whichever brand you like—my personal favorite is Jameson. Add the one shot of Irish whiskey to the glass and stir.
Finally, you’re now ready to add the heavy cream. Be sure that the cream is chilled and has a good, heavy consistency. You are now carefully going to pour this cream over a spoon into the glass very gently. This will allow the cream to settle at the top of the beverage.
Now that your Irish coffee is ready, drink up, and enjoy!
