]]>Is it any surprise that searches for candy (and sales) go up in October? Overall, the average person in the US eats 8 pounds of candy per year. No wonder the US candy production market is worth $12.1 billion!
The most popular candy across the country is KitKats, with 6 states choosing it as their sweet of choice. The chocolate wafers trumped Starbursts which took the prize last year. Twix also proved popular, as did Reese’s, Dum Dums, Jolly Ranchers, Skittles, and Sour Patch Kids. Weirdly enough, some states actually picked Candy Corn and black licorice.
50 states were surveyed and the results were close… but chocolate won the battle. 28 states named chocolate candies as their favorite, while the other 22 prefer gummies, fruit-flavored candies, and other non-chocolate candies.
