One of our favorite ways of putting an extra kick into our Mexican-inspired dinners is to make a special type of margarita. Instead of preparing the traditional sweet and sour margaritas that are known and beloved by many, we like to add a special touch of spice into ours!

It isn’t too difficult to make spicy margaritas, but it’s important to know which ingredients to use. Check out these additions that can transform a normal margarita into a spicy wonderland.

Jalapeno Peppers

If you search for spicy margarita recipes, the most common ingredient that you will find, by far, is the jalapeno pepper. There’s a good reason for this, as jalapenos are spicy without being overwhelming and add a floral, pleasant taste and smell.

Tajin Spice

In Mexico, you will often find that margaritas are garnished with this spicy combination of Mexican spices. Containing chile peppers, salt, and lime, tajin perfectly complements the sour and sweet character of a classic margarita.

Habanero Peppers

Looking to turn up the temperature a bit? Try muddling habanero peppers and adding them into a margarita! Be careful, however, as jalapenos can end up being overwhelmingly spicy. It’s best to combine them with a sweeter variety of margarita, such as mango.

Guacamole is definitely one of the most popular foods on the planet right now. This avocado-based dip might have been born in Mexico, but is now available in restaurants and is enjoyed throughout the world these days.

Guacamole can be made non-spicy, but many people prefer a hot version. Here are some easy ways to heat up your guacamole.

Jalapeno Peppers

Chopping up jalapeno peppers and placing them into your guacamole is a simple and easy way to make the dip spicier. Don’t overdo it with the seeds, however, as this might make your guacamole too spicy to even enjoy!

Chili Flakes

If you don’t have time or don’t have any fresh peppers in your home, that doesn’t mean that you can’t make spicy guacamole. In fact, why not just add some hot chili flakes? This will give your guacamole a bit of a kick, and all you have to do is reach into your spice pantry to grab it!

Chili Peppers

You don’t have to use jalapeno peppers to give your guacamole a spicy kick. In fact, any old type of chili pepper will do. Whether red or green, feel free to chop one up and throw it into your guacamole to make it spicy.

Jalapeno peppers are one of the most common hot peppers you will find at the grocery store. They are very cheap, but pack in a lot of flavors and a good amount of heat. There are so many great ways to utilize a jalapeno, so try some of these new recipes today!

Jalapeno Slaw

If you love tacos, you need to make this spicy coleslaw to put on top. Just shred some red and white cabbage, green onions, red onions, carrots, and jalapenos, and put them together in a bowl. For the dressing combine mayo with brown mustard, apple cider vinegar, a little sugar, celery salt, cumin, and cayenne and black pepper. Pour over the slaw and prepare to be amazed.

Infused Vodka

Infusions are not only great to offer guests, but to give as gifts as well! Just fill a jar with vodka and slice up some jalapenos and put them right in. Let it sit for about a week in a cool dark place, and then start mixing the cocktails!

Spicy Corn Fritters

These fritters come together in a food processor, so it really couldn’t be easier. Pulse eggs, flour, parmesan cheese, salt, corn, green onion, and jalapeno together. Spoon in the dough into a pan with oil and fry on both sides.
