Kugel, a traditional Ashkenazi Jewish dish, is the kind of dessert that is both so delicious and so unhealthy that you appreciate it even more every time you have it. Essentially a baked egg noodle pudding casserole, it’s sweet, crunchy, and easy to make. Plus, it’s pretty much a guaranteed favorite for adults and children alike, making it a great dessert to bring to a gathering or dinner party. Here is how to make it.

Ingredients

  • Wide egg noodles
  • Eggs
  • Sugar
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Oil
  • Cottage cheese
  • Sour cream

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

While the oven preheats, cook your egg noodles. Boil lightly salted water and add the noodles, cooking until they are tender but not too soft. Drain and return the cooked noodles to the pot.

In a bowl, combine eggs, sugar, butter, cinnamon, cottage cheese, and sour cream. Once it’s well combined, add it to the noodles and mix until the noodles are well coated.

Oil a baking dish. Add the noodle mixture. Bake for about an hour until golden brown.

Alternatively, if you like your kugel even crispier, you can fry it on a pan over medium-high heat, flipping it over once each side is golden brown and crispy.
