]]> Being an American chain, you would expect Starbucks to keep all its best stuff for the United States. But that doesn’t seem to be the case, at least when it comes to holiday drinks.

In a recent blog post, Starbucks showcased its selection of international holiday drinks that you can’t get in the United States. And learning all of the options that Starbucks offers elsewhere made a lot of people jealous.

For example, coffee lovers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa can enjoy the Caramel Waffle Latte, which is inspired by Dutch stroopwafel cookies.

Starbucks fans in the Asia Pacific region can get their caffeine intake with a delicious-sounding Chestnut Mont Blanc Oatmilk Latte.

But wait, that is just the beginning. In Costa Rica and other parts of Central America and the Caribbean, Starbucks has Red Velvet Latte. This drink comes with a beautiful red color and seems so fitting for Christmas.

Of course, Japan has the most intriguing drink of them all with Strawberry Merry Cream Frappuccino Blended Cream. It is made with “sweet and sour strawberry pulp frozen and topped with merry cream made from mascarpone.”

Starbucks announced some holiday drinks for its U.S. customers as well, but offerings like Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai Latte simply don’t look as good in comparison to these international options.

Know Your Roast

Starbucks uses a dark roast espresso for their lattes, while most local shops use a medium roast espresso. If you enjoy your coffee strong, stick with dark; otherwise, ask your barista to rather make your drink with blonde espresso.

From the coffee itself to the decadent pastries, you can always rely on it to give you exactly what you need. The Frappuccinos, in particular, are one of Starbucks’ most popular varieties of drinks. But there’s actually a good reason you probably shouldn’t have too many of them.

Fraps are Loaded With Sugar

Starbucks has a reputation of being the penultimate go-to coffee spot, but this also allows people to give themselves “free passes” when it comes to drinking Frappuccinos. Since Frappuccinos are under the Starbucks brand name, it gives us the feeling that we’re simply drinking coffee or a certain variation of it. But while there is coffee in Starbucks Fraps, it pales in comparison to the amount of sugar that gets put in it.

In other words, Fraps are more like desserts as opposed to on-the-go coffees—and yet they’re often treated and consumed like the latter. Fraps on the go are a commonality, and while there’s truly nothing wrong with that, it may not be ideal if you’re trying to stay healthy. Coffee itself isn’t particularly healthy either, but at least you know when you’re drinking it—whereas sugar lurks maliciously in Fraps where you least expect it.

While any of those answers would probably qualify as scientific signs of autumn’s arrival, we’ve got other criteria in mind. For us, the season begins when Pumpkin Spice Lattes are available!

The PSL has become synonymous with fall, ever since Starbucks launched the unusual drink in 2003. At the time, most of us would not have dreamt about sipping on pumpkin-flavored anything, but oh, how times have changed…

Combining cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, steamed milk, espresso, pumpkin purée, sugar, and whipped cream proved so revolutionary that pumpkin spice is now a common flavor from cookies to candles. Many of Starbucks’ competitors have also launched their own version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

The OG coffee chain has now officially launched its 19th season of the popular drink, with PSLs being made available from August 30. Along with the signature beverage, there will also be an assortment of pumpkin-inspired treats. Visitors can choose from the Pumpkin Loaf, Pumpkin Scone, and Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin. As usual, the PSL can be ordered hot, cold, blended, in a cream version, or as a cold brew.

]]> Big coffee chain Starbucks is about to ban plastic straws in all its stores next years. They promised to do this a year ago and are now following up with the decision. Instead of the plastic straws, they will use straw-less lids that have been tested at selected locations across the U.S. And Canada.

Customers have immediately started wondering if the new lid will also be made of plastic, to which the company responded that “the strawless lid is made from polypropylene, a commonly-accepted recyclable plastic that can be captured in recycling infrastructure, unlike straws which are too small and lightweight to be captured in modern recycling equipment,” writes The Guardian.

Starbucks isn’t the only company to be getting rid of plastic straws. This environmental cause is supported by McDonald’s (in the U.K.) and IKEA, which will be removing items like plastic straws, freezer bags, plates, and garbage bags from their restaurants and stores.

In Latin America, this sweet and cinnamony frozen drink is beloved as a twist on a classic. It’s high in sugar, but absolutely delicious.

Maple Macchiato

A Canadian classic finds its way into the Starbucks menu in certain parts of the year in Quebec locations. The syrup is extracted from trees in Canada and is blended into this coffee-based delight.

Christmas Pannetone Latte

Pannetone is an Italian fruit and nut cake that’s available during the Christmas season. In Australia and Asia, it is made into a latte drink that is available at Starbucks locations.

Lucuma Creme Frappuccino

]]> Big coffee chain Starbucks is about to ban plastic straws in all its stores next years. They promised to do this a year ago and are now following up with the decision. Instead of the plastic straws, they will use straw-less lids that have been tested at selected locations across the U.S. And Canada.

Customers have immediately started wondering if the new lid will also be made of plastic, to which the company responded that “the strawless lid is made from polypropylene, a commonly-accepted recyclable plastic that can be captured in recycling infrastructure, unlike straws which are too small and lightweight to be captured in modern recycling equipment,” writes The Guardian.

Starbucks isn’t the only company to be getting rid of plastic straws. This environmental cause is supported by McDonald’s (in the U.K.) and IKEA, which will be removing items like plastic straws, freezer bags, plates, and garbage bags from their restaurants and stores.

Churro Frappuccino

In Latin America, this sweet and cinnamony frozen drink is beloved as a twist on a classic. It’s high in sugar, but absolutely delicious.

Maple Macchiato

A Canadian classic finds its way into the Starbucks menu in certain parts of the year in Quebec locations. The syrup is extracted from trees in Canada and is blended into this coffee-based delight.

Christmas Pannetone Latte

Pannetone is an Italian fruit and nut cake that’s available during the Christmas season. In Australia and Asia, it is made into a latte drink that is available at Starbucks locations.

Lucuma Creme Frappuccino

Only available in Peru, this fruity Frappuccino incorporates lucuma, a traditional Amazonian fruit that has a custardy texture. Some say it tastes like a combination between mangoes and pineapples.
