A wooden cutting board is probably one of the most used items in your kitchen. They come in so many shapes and sizes, that these boards can even be decorative. The biggest problem though is the fact that they can be so hard to clean and dry. Use these smart tips to make your kitchen life much easier.

Try Vinegar

Vinegar is such a magical liquid that can solve so many problems. If it can clean bathrooms, it can also clean your wooden cutting board. The vinegar will get to all the smallest cuts, while also destroying bacteria. Since you are using this board to cut a variety of foods, you want to be sure that there are no bacteria that can be transferred.

Don’t Soak It

Don’t ever let the board soak in water! It can cause damage and you won’t be able to repair.

Don’t Wash It In The Dishwasher

These boards are not made to be washed in the dishwasher. Always wash them by hand. The heat from the dishwasher can easily destroy the board, so you will not be able to use it anymore.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is another efficient way to clean a wooden cutting board. You should not do this every single time, but once every several uses.

Despite being a relatively simple and straight-forward kitchen device, did you know that there are actually some tricks that you should know in order to get the most out of your kitchen’s cutting board?

As we all know, a cutting board can be used to slice up things such as meat, vegetables, and bread in a kitchen. But did you know that you only need to wash yours with soap after handling raw meat on it?

Washing your board with soap too often can cause the board to shrink or to acquire some of its “flavor.” Try only rinsing your cutting board after handling produce and bread on it to avoid this.

Another important tip for getting out of your cutting board is to use a sharp knife. Using a dull knife will force you to saw at what you’re cutting, which can cause creases and imperfections to form in your board. Be sure to keep your knives sharpened at all times to avoid this.

Finally, did you know that the space for the handle on a cutting board that forms a hollow square has another use?

You can use this hole in the board to scrape off what you’ve cut into a pan or bowl without pieces of the food flying everywhere.

Wasn’t that helpful?
