Ingredients:
- 1 glass of seltzer water on the rocks
- 1 shot of vodka (or white wine)
- Half a handful of berries or citrus fruits
- 1/2 of a lime
Instructions:
- Place the berries or other fruit in an empty glass. Mash them with a spoon until smooth and pulpy.
- Pour in the glass of seltzer water with the ice.
- Add the vodka or wine and squeeze in the juice from the 1/2 lime.
- Enjoy!

Scotch
Scotch whiskey is considered to be the heaviest and “strongest” whiskey, in general. It is distilled twice and made using malted barley which has been smoked with peat, giving it its characteristic aroma and flavor. It’s usually blended to obtain different flavors from different batches.
Irish Whiskey
Of the two whiskeys originating from the British Isles, Irish whiskey is definitely the smoother and lighter version. It is distilled three times and made using a mix of malted and raw barley, giving it a sweeter and more delicate flavor. It typically isn’t blended after being left in its copper vat.

Bourbon
Bourbon, the American version of the beverage, is markedly different. It is primarily made using corn, which produces the sweetest and lightest flavor of whiskey available between these three choices. The smoky flavor which makes bourbon unique is obtained from aging in charred oak barrels.

Its syrupy consistency makes it perfect for cocktails and here’s the recipe for our fall favorite.
You’ll Need
- 2 oz white wine
- 1 oz Cardamaro
- 2 oz ginger beer
Instructions
- Chill the ingredients before making the cocktail.
- Stir Cardamaro and wine together with some ice.
- Add ginger beer, stir again, and decorate with a slice of apple.
Enjoy the cold-weather spritz that will help you remember all the great things about summer, at least until the holidays come and you decide you want to switch to mulled wine!

]]>A study done in 2006 showed that drinking red wine and eating dark chocolate can prevent heart disease. Experiments done on mice showed that those who consumed grape skins, chocolate, and berries lived twice as long compared to those who didn’t eat the same.
But lately, scientists are not so sure about the health benefits of red wine. An article published on BBC in 2014 reflects on the study done by Professor Richard Semba of the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine who, along with his colleagues, found no evidence that supports the alleged benefits of red wine.
