Are you trying to do more cooking in your life? Are you also trying to eat healthier? If you answered yes to both of those questions we have some great news for you. You can actually kill two of those birds with one stone. Indeed, the truth is that when you cook more, you actually eat healthier, and here’s why.

You’re More Aware

The first reason cooking more makes you eat healthier is because you’re painfully more aware of every little thing that you eat. It’s a lot easier to eat a batch of cookies when you weren’t the one who added all of that sugar to the batter, so you can play the whole “ignorance is bliss” game. But the opposite is also true when you cook more, meaning you’ll be more careful about the different things you eat.

You Develop a Love For Food

In addition, you’ll start to also develop a much stronger love for food. We mean this in the holistic sense, where you begin to appreciate the power of healthy, well-cooked food—as opposed to just loving the idea of eating everything without thinking. This doesn’t mean you’ll never eat anything unhealthy again. It just means that as you love your food more, you won’t abuse it in the same way.

When you go to the store to buy olive oil, are you aware of the fact that there are several different varieties of this popular cooking oil?

From the highest-quality option of extra-virgin olive oil to the little-known, cheap version of this “liquid gold” which is denominated as being “refined,” there are lots of different options for olive oil buyers. Here is your explanation of the differences between each variety.

Extra-Virgin

Extra-virgin olive oil is the highest quality variety of the product that you can buy. Not treated in any way or altered by chemicals, it retains the essence of the olives that are used to make it. Be careful when using it for cooking, however, as its low smoke means that it can burn easily.

Virgin

Virgin olive oil is similar to the extra-virgin oil, with the only slight difference being in the content of oleic acid that it contains. It’s also not treated with any type of chemicals or unnatural processes, but might be slightly more astringent and bitter due to the higher acid content.

Refined

Refined olive oil, which is often sold as “pure” olive oil, is a lower-quality product than virgin varieties. These “pure” oils are usually made mostly with refined oil, which has been treated to remove impurities and may contain a slight amount of virgin oil. It is, however, a better option for cooking due to its higher smoke point.

If you’re familiar with the Mediterranean diet, you know that one of the cornerstones to this uber-healthy way of eating is olive oil.

Olive oil is heavily used in Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Italy, and Greece, and it’s considered the “liquid gold” of the region. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also seriously healthy. Here are some of the reasons why it is simply the healthiest cooking oil you can choose.

It’s Full of Healthy Fats

Olive oil has fat just like any other cooking oil, but the difference is is that most of the fats in olive oil are “healthy” fats. It’s full of monounsaturated fats that don’t affect your body negatively like the saturated fats found in other oils do.

It Has Tons of Antioxidants

We love choosing foods with antioxidants due to their free-radical fighting, cancer-preventing, and inflammation-reducing qualities. Olive oil is a great source of antioxidants that your body will appreciate.

It’s Super Heart-Healthy

Oil and heart ailments don’t have to be synonymous. In fact, olive oil is actually very healthy for your heart. It has compounds that reduce artery blockages as well as other compounds that can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Be to, iš jaunų cukinijų galima pasidaryti cukinijų “makaronų”.

These “pure” oils are usually made mostly with refined oil, which has been treated to remove impurities and may contain a slight amount of virgin oil. It is, however, a better option for cooking due to its higher smoke point.
