It is always important to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, but especially so in these times of pandemic in which we are currently living. Disinfecting your kitchen’s most-used surfaces is a great way to ensure that you won’t become sick from microbes that can accumulate in these places. We touch a lot of places in our kitchens with frequency, but sometimes forget to disinfect them. Here are three places in your kitchen that you should definitely clean frequently to stay healthy.

Faucet Handles

Every time you go to wash your hands or dishes in the kitchen, you end up touching the faucet handle of your sink. This is an especially dirty place where germs often accumulate, so be sure to disinfect here frequently.

Countertops

Countertops, where food is often prepared before being eaten and served, can get seriously germy and dirty if you don’t take time every day or two to disinfect them. This is an absolutely crucial step towards kitchen cleanliness.

Cabinets and Refrigerator Handles

Just think: how many times per day do you open your kitchen’s cabinets or your refrigerator without washing your hands first? Considering that we often eat after touching these handles, you should definitely try to disinfect them on a daily basis.

Getting the motivation to bake and cook can be pretty difficult when you’re not happy with the state of your kitchen. Keeping this space nice and clean takes a lot of effort, but the “one in, one out” rule can help you tame the mess.

Applying this decluttering technique will allow you to keep your kitchen tidy on the go, without the need for a big clean-up. The “one in, one out” rule basically suggests you should get rid of an old item every time you buy a new one, and it’s especially useful when it comes to dishes.

We all tend to pile up old pots and pans with the excuse we might need them one day, but chances are that day will never come. If the vessels you’re using are too old and damaged, it’s ok to let them go once you buy new ones you can use in their place.

Like every other decluttering method, the “one in, one out” rule doesn’t always work because everyone has a couple of items with sentimental value. There’s nothing wrong with that, as long as you have enough room for them and they don’t get in the way every time you try to cook a new meal.

Have you ever had a bowl of spaghetti or a pizza explode inside of your microwave? These incidents can cause a lot of headache after sauce has spready all over the interior of your kitchen appliance.

Microwaves are one of the first kitchen appliances that tend to get dirty due to the bits of food that sometimes escape from the containers used for heating.

While some people opt to clean the interior of their microwaves with bleach or other harsh, toxic products, did you know that it’s possible to clean yours without needing these things?

In fact, cleaning your microwave can be incredible clean, non-toxic, safe, and easy.

Here’s how.

Start off by pouring a one-third vinegar, two-thirds water mixture into a large bowl. The liquid solution should contain about two cups in total.

After this, take a lemon, cut it in half, and squeeze the juice from the lemon inside of this bowl. Mix all three of these liquid ingredients together.

Once you’ve done this, place the bowl inside of the microwave and microwave it on high for several minutes until it boils and steams up the microwave.

After you’ve removed the bowl, wipe clean with a sponge, and you’re done! Wasn’t that easy?
