Indulge in a delightful treat with this amazing recipe for apple tart! Bursting with the sweet and tangy flavor of fresh apples, nestled in a buttery and flaky pastry crust, this classic dessert is sure to impress with its simplicity and deliciousness. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply craving a cozy dessert to enjoy with loved ones, this irresistible apple tart is guaranteed to bring joy to every bite and leave you craving more.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons ice water
  • 4-5 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions:

  1. Start by making the pastry crust. In a food processor, combine the flour, cold cubed butter, sugar, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the egg yolk and ice water to the mixture and pulse until the dough comes together. If the dough is too dry, add more ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently until it forms a smooth ball. Flatten the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. While the dough is chilling, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled pastry dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Carefully transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Arrange the sliced apples in overlapping circles on top of the pastry dough, leaving a border of about 2 inches around the edges. Fold the edges of the pastry dough over the apples, pleating as needed.
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the apricot preserves and water over medium heat until melted and smooth. Brush the glaze over the apples and crust. Bake the apple tart in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Allow the apple tart to cool slightly before serving, and enjoy!
