A well-stocked kitchen is essential for staying sane on busy days when you just want to whip up a quick meal, and a well-stocked kitchen needs two types of butter – one for cooking and another one for snacking.

Cooking butter is used for various dishes and baked goods and it doesn’t have to be super fancy. In fact, the cheaper the better. Buy a big batch of generic butter that you’ll keep in the freezer and only keep a small amount in the fridge – even famous baker Stella Parks agrees, according to her Twitter. You can go with salted or unsalted as this is a matter of personal preference, although if you want to pick just one unsalted is the way to go.

Besides this cheap, generic butter, you also need a good-quality butter that you’ll use for snacking. Ideally, you will store it in a butter dish outside of the fridge so it stays soft. When not kept in the fridge, butter can last for several days so make sure you don’t put too much at once. A good choice is an Irish butter or any other butter with a higher fat content that comes from organic cow milk.

$100,000 is a lot of money from anyone’s perspective. There are so many things you can buy with that kind of money, but this man nearly spent just as much on a single bottle of beer.

Author Peter Lalor was a guest at the Malmaison Hotel in Manchester where he received an unpleasant surprise. Lalor got to the hotel bar for a nightcap and ordered a single beer, a bottle of an English IPA. After he was done with it, he asked for a check, only to see that he was charged $99,983.64 for that very beer! And on top of that, there was a $2,499.59 transaction fee!

Not yet knowing if he should be annoyed or amused, Lalor took to Twitter to share what happened with the world. “See this beer? That is the most expensive beer in history. I paid $99,983.64 for it in the Malmaison Hotel, Manchester the other night. Seriously,” the man wrote.

He continued the story in the comments below his tweet and you can read it below.

Butter is an amazing addition to many dishes and a tasty sandwich ingredient, but is there a wrong way to cut it?

A tweet by Maria Stephanos with a photo of the way she cuts butter started a debate in which people shared their opinions on this topic. “I know. It’s wrong. My family hates it and I’ve been doing it for years, but please tell me at least one of you cuts your butter this way… Anybody?” she posted.

The comment section includes hundreds of opinions of people who wanted to weigh in on the topic. “I’d need a separate stick of butter than you if we lived in the same house,” one commenter wrote. “This is blasphemy,” added another one.

Others agreed with Stephanos. “I do most of the time. It is easier and then it is ready for corn on the cob,” a woman named Deb LaValley wrote.

Today contacted a cooking expert Lisa McManus of America’s Test Kitchen who confirmed this is the superior way of cutting butter, as ugly as it may look. She explains how she always forgets to take her butter out of the fridge up front so this is the best way to get a thin slice for the toast.

What do you think? How do you cut your butter?
