]]>Think of your platter as a canvas, and your veggies as the paint. Bright reds (bell peppers, tomatoes), vibrant greens (cucumbers, broccoli), deep purples (eggplants, beets), sunny yellows (summer squash, bell peppers), and earthy oranges (carrots, sweet potatoes) will make a visually arresting display.
Create patterns or shapes with your veggies, or arrange them in a gradient from light to dark. Consider using techniques like radial arrangements, where veggies radiate out from a central point, or creating a mosaic effect with small, diced vegetables.
Finally, elevate your veggie spread by incorporating edible flowers, fresh herbs, or even fruit for a touch of sweetness. Flowers like nasturtiums, violets, and marigolds are great options. Herbs like basil, dill, and cilantro can add freshness and aroma, enhancing the overall appeal of your spread.

]]>VineyardBaker’s Instagram reads, “Putting the Art in Artisan Breads, WARNING: : this site contains gluten,” and she’s definitely making bread into beautiful works of art.
Her breads are completely edible and the flower designs are made from cut-up sliced vegetables and chives.
To create your very own bread art start by using a basic tomato herb focaccia and substituting the tomatoes for capers, kalamata olives, peppers, grape tomatoes, and fresh herbs.
VineyardBaker recommends waiting for the dough to rise before pressing the vegetables into the bread and if you’re using wet vegetables, pat them dry after you slice them. This will help prevent your bread from getting soggy.
The Instagrammer’s work isn’t limited to nature motifs. In addition to flower-topped focaccia, she makes sourdough bread with intricate patterns and fun shapes like football pretzel rolls, that she whipped up for the Super Bowl.

He manipulates the food if needed by cutting them and arranges them in the desired order to achieve a mesmerizing visual result. Each of his works is completed without any digital manipulation.
“Recently I’ve been focusing a lot on color contrast and gradient,” he told My Modern Met. “Unlike a lot of my previous work, which primarily used singular objects and an array of different colors, I’ve been creating cut pieces that combine a wide variety of singularly toned objects over a geometric, cut-paper background, such as the wide variety of red-toned fruit and vegetables.”

I was so fascinated with all the beautiful things she made and brought home, so I decided to join her. I’d study her cake decorating books and feel so inspired. At the time, I only knew I wanted to make cakes for my kids like that one day, never really considering I could make a profession out of it. I always hoped I could, though.”

]]>Gone are the days of plopping down a chicken breast and a scoop of rice on a plate without thinking about it. Now, with just a bit of care and know-how, it’s easy to impress by beautifully plating food! Here are some tricks to do so.
A good color scheme is essential for plating food in an attractive way. Don’t just randomly throw colors together on a plate. Instead, come up with a cohesive and aesthetically-pleasing mix of colors that will look downright delicious.
Sauces are a great element that can be utilized for plating food. One great idea for plating is to start off by spreading or dropping dots of a brightly-colored sauce in order to provide a beautiful background for the main elements of the plate.
While it might be tempting to load a ton of elements onto your plate in order to provide complexity and depth, the reality is that it’s often just too much. Instead, leave some empty space on your plate so as to not overwhelm diners.

“I studied illustration at Falmouth University, a great course where we had the opportunity to try out everything, and learn a lot about the industry,” the artist told Gestalten. “After three years of studying, I decided to try out getting some freelance commissions and being self-employed, something I hadn’t ever imagined myself doing. Almost 5 years later and I love the work I get to do and the freedom that it can offer.”

]]>This technique is known as “latte art,” when coffee makers and baristas use their artistic skills to guide the steamed milk contained in the beverage to make a type of drawing on the top layer of the drink that is served.
While the coffee drink named in the this art form is latte, latte art techniques can also be applied to making other hot drinks that contain milk. For example, many baristas also make latte art with flat whites, hot chocolates, and cappuccinos.
To make latte art, it’s essential for the hot drink and the steamed milk to be in the correct temperature and consistency. The milk should be between 140 and 180 degrees and the coffee or hot drink should be fresh and hot.
One of the keys of the art is to also use a commercial wand heater for the milk. This allows the “microfoam” to form, and this ends up becoming the base of the layer in which latte art can be created.
The final touch is to use stencils or free-hand to create beautiful latte art designs. Creativity is the name of the game!

Jacob and I would get creative in the kitchen and discuss the ingredients that we were using and the benefits. For example, when he was 3, we would talk about how kale was a superfood. He would ask why, and I would say ‘because superheroes love eating it’ – that was a winner for him!”
