Cranberry sauce is a staple for any Thanksgiving table and for some, Christmas as well. But, after a while, you run out of mashed potatoes or turkey to smother them with, and you are stuck with more cranberry sauce then you would probably like. Luckily, this recipe is perfect for just this circumstance! All you need is a couple of extra ingredients that only take a few minutes to throw together and you have a totally new dish!

Ingredients

  • Any leftover cranberry sauce you have
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • One or two oranges
  • One lemon
  • Pinch of salt

Recipe

  1. Take the cranberry sauce and put it into a small saucepan.
  2. Juice one of the oranges and put it into the saucepan along with the zest of both the oranges, the zest of the lemon, and the spices.
  3. Stir over medium-low heat for 5-10 minutes until the flavors have fully bloomed.
  4. Taste, and see the thickness and sweetness. If it needs more zing, add in the juice of the second orange.
  5. Cool before serving. Use as an addition to a cheese board or simply serve as a sweet dip with tortilla or pita chips!

Whether you made a dry cake, or just have a cake that you’re not a huge fan of the flavor, making them into cake pops is the best way to not waste food and make them into something super delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cake crumbles
  • 1/2 cup of frosting
  • 1 1/2 cups of white chocolate or candy melts
  • Optional: sprinkles

Recipe

  1. Start by crumbling up your leftover cake and measuring out 2 cups of it. You can also double the recipe if you have a lot of cake.
  2. Mix the cake crumbles with the frosting so it’s well incorporated and sticky.
  3. Then, take a small ice cream scoop or use your hands to roll just 2-3 tablespoons worth of cake into a ball.
  4. Put the balls on a baking sheet and put them into the freezer for 10 minutes.
  5. While the balls are chilling, melt the candy melts or chocolate in the microwave in 30 seconds increments stirring in between until they are melted. You can also do this over a double boiler on the stove.
  6. Then, put sticks into the balls and dip them into the melted chocolate or candy melts, coat them in sprinkles if you want.
  7. Put them back onto the baking sheet, freeze for 15 minutes, and enjoy!

If you’re someone who likes to experiment with infusions of olive oil, alcohol, and more, you might be wondering what to do with the leftover ingredients you used to infuse. Instead of throwing these ingredients away, you can actually make new dishes out of them! Getting creative with these ingredients not only saves you money, but also allows you to produce less waste.

Sauce

If you’ve made a cherry-infused vodka, cranberry gin, or any other fruit, you can actually easily turn them into a pan sauce! But if there are any pits in your fruit, make sure to take them out before you start cooking.

After you’ve roasted or sauteed any sort of fatty protein like lamb, chicken, or the likes, pour the leftover drippings into a pan. Heat it up with some apple cider or pomegranate juice, and then throw the fruit into the pan. Cook everything for a few minutes so the alcohol flavor cooks off and pour over your meat!

Vegetables

Oven roasted veggies are an all-time favorite, right? I use the vegetables which are in season and in my fridge. Here it’s beetroot, carrots, kohlrabi, onions and fennel. I served them with pesto rosso and a crunchy topping out of hemp seeds and macadamia nuts. Did you know that macadamias belong to the healthiest nuts because they contain a lot of valuable fatty acids? That’s why I write about them as one of my top 15 of healthy fats in my new book which you can still win. There is a GIVEAWAY 🧡🧡on my blog (➡link in bio an in my stories). The book is in German, but I will ship it worldwide. Happy day to all of you! . Another good way to use up an infused ingredient is to throw them into the oven with some seasonal vegetables to roast. Make sure to balance whatever ingredient you’re using with spices and herbs.

Whether you have a big family that loses interest in regular turkey sandwiches, or have extra deli meat from a platter or party, it can be hard to think what to do with it besides more sandwiches. In reality, there’s a lot you can do with deli meat, so check out these fun recipes!

Hash

There’s nothing better in the morning than a great big plate of hash. To make it, all you have to do is saute some onions, cubes of potatoes, and whatever else you have in your fridge that you want to get rid of. Add in whatever type of deli meat, whether it’s roast beef, ham, or turkey at the end and serve it with a fried egg!

Use it as Stuffing

No one can resist something that’s been stuffed, especially a food like chicken breast that can sometimes get a little boring. Instead, jazz it up by slitting it up, and stuffing it with some deli meat, cheese, and vegetables!  Bake it to perfection and enjoy your stuffed treat.

Freeze It

Worst comes to worse, if you’re really all deli-ed out, you can always freeze the extra meat! Stored properly you have deli meat for several months in your fridge, and all you have to do is let it thaw out and your back in business.
