There are so many amazing recipes that require minced meat, from burgers to shepherd’s pie and meatballs, but it’s easy to go wrong somewhere in the process and ruin the whole meal. Here are the most common mistakes to avoid.

Proper Freezing

You need to repack the meat before freezing it after bringing it home from the store. Wrap it in the aluminum foil before putting it in the plastic bag and then it’s safe to go in the freezer.

Microwave Thawing

As you’re defrosting the meat in the microwave, the outer layer will start to cook. Give it enough time to thaw naturally.

Cold Pan

You’ll get the best flavor if you put the meat on a hot pan coated with some oil or butter. Putting it in a cold pan will make it stick to the bottom and it won’t brown nicely.

Excess Water

Minced meat releases some water that you can drain if you want, especially if your recipe requires a precise amount of liquid to be added and you’re worried if the water from the meat will mess it up.

If you had to guess which country on earth eats the most meat per capita, you’d probably guess the United States, right?

Well, you would be right! But did you know that the small South American country of Uruguay comes in at #4 on the list? This place, located on the Atlantic coast of the Southern Cone of South America, is one of the most meat-crazed countries on Earth.

When Spanish settlers came to what is now Uruguay in the early 17th century, they soon realized that the rolling meadows and plains of the territory were perfect for raising cattle. Naturally, they started to raise cows there and quickly began to consume the local meat.

In fact, even today, there are four times more cows than people inside the country!

From that point on, Uruguay has become absolutely wild about meat. In fact, a crucial part of the country’s social life is the organization of barbecues, known as “asados,” in which Uruguayans prepare a large variety of meats, from beef to sausage to lamb, preparing all of the different meats over a large open fire.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BvF2ZrMgT83/?igshid=1hzbre64q8985

Uruguayans are fiercely proud about their meat products, and now export a large quantity of them abroad.

If you ever find yourself in Uruguay, be sure to seek out the opportunity to enjoy a traditional meat-based meal.

While yakiniku isn’t well-known outside of Japan, it’s undeniable that this Japanese gastronomic tradition is an integral part of the culture of food in the Land of the Rising Sun.

So, what exactly is yakiniku?

Well, to put it plainly, this tradition can be described as a form of Japanese BBQ. At a yakiniku restaurant or at a home where this type of food is prepared, diners participate in an interactive experience in which they grill premium-quality cuts of meat on a personal grill.

You might be thinking that yakiniku sounds pretty similar to Korean BBQ, and you’d be right. In fact, this tradition originated with Japanese people who brought this Korean tradition back to their home country. They’ve definitely managed to put their own twist on the art, however.

In Japan, yakiniku focuses largely on Wagyu beef products. As you may know, Wagyu beef is considered one of the most prestigious meats in the world, and its quality is on full display in yakiniku.

Beef is the king when it comes to Japanese BBQ, but you can also sometimes find other meat cubes from animals such as pigs, as well as offal products like beef heart. Commonly, diners choose to eat side dishes such as egg yolk rice, cabbage, and seaweed.

The meats are made even better when enjoyed with soy sauce and sesame-based dips that give this Japanese BBQ meat a final kick that is unforgettably good.

If you find yourself in Tokyo or near a Japanese BBQ restaurant, give it a try and enjoy one of the most unforgettable meals of your life.

You might sometimes be disappointed by the way you cooked your meat. But worry not, there is hope! You may be cooking your meat wrong, but there are easy ways to fix this.

Resting

https://www.instagram.com/p/Buoqb22lnne/

Resting is one of the most important parts of cooking meat. When you rest the meat, it has time to reabsorb all the juices that spilled out of it, making it tender and juicy again. Allow your meat to rest at least 5-10 minutes before cutting into it and you’ll see a big difference.

Flipping

If you’re sauteing or grilling meat, it can be really tempting to flip the meat a lot. But this will only hurt you in the end. The meat will release when it’s ready to flip, so be patient and you’ll be much happier with the result in the end.

Temperature

Temperature is everything when you’re cooking meat. First of all, take the meat out of the fridge before you cook it, so it isn’t completely cold when it hits the pan. Also, make sure that pan you’re using is hot enough your meat might stick and it won’t sear.
