Are you a fan of savory breakfasts, but just don’t have time to prepare more complicated dishes such as bacon and eggs in the morning? Well, have we got a great idea for you!

Pan Tumaca, a classic Spanish breakfast dish that is served in homes and cafeterias throughout the country, is easy to prepare, savory, and delicious. Let’s learn how to make it!

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of fresh bread
  • 1 tomato
  • 1.5 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Start off by preparing the tomato which will be the base of this tasty toast. Wash it, cut it in half, and then use a grater to liquefy and separate the body of the tomato from its skin. Do this process into a bowl.
  2. Once you’ve done this, use either a toaster or a small frying pan with a little bit of olive oil in it to toast your two bread slices.
  3. When the bread is toasted, rub the garlic cloves on the sliced bread to give it a little bit of garlic essence.
  4. After this, you’ll want to take the tomato from the bowl and spread it generously and thickly onto the garlicky toast.
  5. Finish it off by adding ¾ of a tablespoon of olive oil to each piece of toast and adding a pinch of salt, to taste. Enjoy!

Have you ever heard of Agua de Valencia?

This citrusy, light cocktail originates from the city of Valencia, Spain. It literally means “Valencian Water.”  It was invented in the 1950s as a simple drink that’s great to enjoy in the warm sun. It’s easy to make and also easy to drink!

So, let’s find out how to make it!

Ingredients

  • 3 parts fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 2 parts chilled semi-dry cava sparkling wine
  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part gin
  • 1 orange
  • Ice (optional)

Start off by putting all of the liquid ingredients in a pitcher or a glass. Most people opt to make a larger pitcher of this drink to serve at a party or a get-together, but you can also make an individual version.

Once you’ve added all of the liquid ingredients together, mix them together gently with a spoon or cocktail stirrer.

Cut the orange into slices that you’ll later use to garnish the glass.

After the liquid ingredients have been mixed together, pour the drink into a martini glass. If you’d like, you can add an ice cube or two to the glass to chill and dilute the drink.

Garnish the martini glass with an orange slice, and enjoy!

Huevos rotos is a Spanish dish that means broken eggs in English, and you might be a little surprised by it! It’s definitely not something you should have all the time, but if you’re in Spain, and you maybe have a little hangover, or you’re just craving something super salty and fatty, this is the dish for you.

Huevos rotos can be found in two varieties. The first is with ham — or jamon in Spanish — and the second is with a cross between hot dogs and chorizo called salchichas.

The other elements to this dish is some type of potatoes, usually french fries, and everything is topped off with a fried egg and served with some bread on the side.

This is also a really easy and fun recipe to make at home if you want to show your friends some down-home Spanish cooking.

All you have to do is cut up potatoes and roast them until they’re golden and crispy. Fry up some hot dogs, sausages, or anything you have on hand, and then fry a few eggs in the same skillet. Let everyone dig in with some slices of bread, and it’ll be a fun way to share an international meal with friends.

Fideau, pronounced fee-do-wah, is a Catalan dish that resembles paella in a lot of ways, but uses short noodles, or fideos, instead of the rice. This dish is super rich and delicious, and can be totally personalized to your taste. It’s a lot easier than traditional paella but looks super impressive, so let’s get started!

Ingredients

For this fideua, you will need:
150 ml of olive oil
200g of fideos or really short angel hair pasta about 1-2 inches long
1 liter of seafood stock or whatever stock you like
half an onion
whatever seafood or vegetables you want to put in

Recipe

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwju-eABHhs/
  1. Heat up about 50ml of the olive oil over medium heat and fry the noodles in it for about 5 minutes, moving it around to make sure nothing burns.
  2. Take the noodles out and add the rest of the olive oil, along with any seafood you want to cook, the onions, and any other vegetable.
  3. After a few minutes, when everything has been cooked, add in about 3/4 of the liter of stock, and let it come to boil for 10 minutes.
  4. Then, add in the pasta and more liquid if necessary and cover the pan. Don’t add so much extra liquid as the idea is that the noodles will absorb all of the liquid in just 3-5 minutes.
  5. Once they have, leave it uncovered for 1 minute on the heat, and enjoy!

Spanish tortilla is completely different from Mexican tortillas. Spanish tortilla is actually an omelette dish made with potatoes and eggs, although you can add more ingredients to it if you like, such as meat or cheese. This dish is a staple in Spanish life all over the country, and although it takes some practice to perfect, it is pretty easy to make.

Recipe

An easy way to make Spanish tortilla is by using a pan that you can use on the stove and then transfer to the oven. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to put the contents of the pan into a baking dish when the time comes.

  1. Start off by slicing up some onions. Cook them over low heat in butter and oil for about 10-15 minutes until they are translucent.
  2. Peel and chop up potatoes into really thin slices or small cubes and then add them to the onions in the pan.
  3. Cover the pan and stir so they don’t burn, and cook for about 15-20 minutes until they are soft.
  4. Scramble a few eggs together and pour over the potato mixture.
  5. Bake in the oven at 375 F for about 15 minutes, or until the tortilla is golden on top and just cooked through.
