]]>The gherkin manufacturers, which first began operating in 1942, have drawn inspiration from what they know and created the world’s first candle that smells like a jar of pickles!
The unusual item is a collaboration with the brand Candier by Ryan Porter which is known for making candles with amusing scents with funny names like “know your worth and add tax,” and “I’m not coming unless there’s wine”.
“We saw a huge opportunity to do something really fun and different with Vlasic in celebration of National Pickle Day. But creating a candle that looks and smells like a real jar of pickles posed several big challenges,” said Krysten Kauder who founded Candier. “Getting the wax pickles to look like they’re floating in clear liquid was really tough. So, everything had to be done by hand, including the placement of the pickles and pouring of the wax. After lots of rounds of research and testing, our team nailed it and produced a 100% wax candle that looks and smells like a jar of Vlasic pickles.”
Just don’t be tempted to grab a gherkin!

]]>The pop-up from Bucket Listers is the perfect place to go if you’re single, nursing a broken heart, or just really hate the commerciality of Valentine’s Day.
Inspired by Taylor Swift’s award-winning track, “Bad Blood”, expect a vengeful vibe that is true to the lyrics of “Baby, now we’ve got bad blood / You know it used to be mad love / So take a look what you’ve done”.
“Whether you want to sing about your lover, those who were never yours, those you’re never getting back together with, or those who still have your scarf, this is the perfect place for you,” reads the description.
The bar is located at Electric Garden on S Racine Ave in Chicago and the $22 admission fee will also earn you a welcome drink.
Once inside, guests can get bejeweled for photos, indulge in champagne, have their fortune told by a tarot card reader, and spin the Shake It Off Wheel of Cocktails. But no, TayTay will not be present.

]]>Now, that unique flavor is inspiring something spicy.
In case you didn’t know, January 22 marks National Hot Sauce Day (don’t worry, it’s news to us, too). To celebrate this auspicious holiday, Mountain Dew has decided to partner up with a Houston-based sauce shop called iBurn to create a hot sauce with a signature fruity tinge.
So what can we expect?
“The new MTN DEW Baja Blast Hot Sauce merges the iconic tropical flavor of the fan-favorite MTN DEW Baja Blast with the heat from habanero peppers, green chiles, and jalapeño peppers for a taste straight from Baja Island!” states the description.
And in true Baja Blast style, the hot sauce is blue!
But those who want to taste the spicy stuff will have to have a fair bit of luck on their side…
Mountain Dew has decided to make only 750 bottles of the sauce—all of which can only be won. The competition on the soft drink’s website involves selecting one of four foods that you’d like to try with the Baja Blast Hot Sauce.

]]>The cocktail is one of the most popular at the moment, but it has actually been around since the late ‘80s. Made with hot espresso, vodka, and coffee liqueur, it’s the kind of drink that will have you feeling alert and tipsy at the same time!
These days, it’s super easy to have an espresso martini on the go, thanks to Tip Top Proper Cocktails. The company makes cocktails like manhattans, daiquiris, negronis, and, of course, espresso martinis and serves them in cans.
Delta has taken note, and will be offering the coffee-based drink from Tip Top Proper Cocktails on selected domestic and international flights from March. Passengers across all cabins will be able to indulge.
The boozy beverage is not the only new addition to the airline’s offering.
Expect regional dishes inspired by the destination country, menu items from the Gramercy Tavern in New York, Questlove’s famous plant-based cheesesteak, and the re-introduction of Delta One’s decadent dessert cart.
“Your onboard meal or beverage should be no different than your go-to restaurant at home,” says Delta’s SVP of In-Flight Service, Kristen Manion Taylor.

]]>We’re fairly certain that those enticing items are not available off-screen, but one which you can get your hands on is the McBaguette from Emily in Paris.
During the third season of the Netflix series, Emily Cooper finds herself being contacted by her ex-boyfriend who is now a global exec at McDonald’s. Doug is on the lookout for a French marketing agency to launch the McBaguette and, as luck would have it, Emily happens to work at one!
The sandwich does not come to fruition on the show, but McDonald’s has held up its end of the bargain in real life.
First launched a decade ago, the McBaguette comprises a baguette filled with two burger patties, two slices of Emmental cheese, lettuce, and French mustard.
To celebrate the new season of Emily in Paris, French branches of the fast food chain are now offering customers a special meal that consists of a McBaguette, French fries, two macrons, and a medium-sized drink.
Sadly, the special sandwich is only available in the European country, as if we needed any more incentive to visit Paris!

]]>But, in 2022, what looks like a mozzarella stick might not actually be a mozzarella stick.
TGI Fridays released a frozen version of the snack sticks with the words “mozzarella sticks” written largely on the front. They were purchased by an Illinois woman in January 2021 under the assumption that a product labelled “mozzarella sticks” would, in fact, contain mozzarella. But as Amy Joseph later found it, the sticks were made of cheddar and did not actually contain any mozzarella.
Joseph filed a lawsuit against both TGI Fridays and its parent company, Inventure Foods, claiming that the packaging is misleading and that the companies violated the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
A Chicago federal judge has now determined that the class action lawsuit can go ahead against Inventure Foods. The case has been dropped against TGI Fridays, however, with the judge arguing that the restaurant chain did not make the product themselves.

]]>Having started out in Michigan in the 1960s, Domino’s has expanded to 83 countries with more than 15,000 stores around the world. Many of these, including China, India, and Mexico, all adhere to the chain’s famous guarantee of delivering pizzas within a 30 minute timeframe.
Domino’s in the United States is trying something new, however, by encouraging customers to pick up their own pies. Those who do will receive a “tip”.
“We know the effort it takes to get up and leave the house in pursuit of a hot, delicious carryout pizza,” stated Domino’s senior vice president of customer and store experience, Christopher Thomas-Moore. “Domino’s diehard carryout customers are really like carryout heroes, and to show our gratitude, we’re giving them $3 to use on their next carryout order. We hope they take advantage of it. After all, they’ve earned it!”
The initiative was first trialled early this year with some success—according to the company, customers claimed more than 17 million carryout tips.

]]>Chips Ahoy! has announced that Chewy Confetti Cake Cookies will be available from early next year.
“We all know that Chips Ahoy! is here for the happy. Now, for its 60th birthday, it’s here for the party,” explained Natalie Gadbois, the company’s senior brand manager. “Our chewy cookies introduce new tastes, flavors, and sensory experiences that we know Gen-Z looks for while still keeping the same, familiar Chips Ahoy! cookie quality fans of all ages have come to know and love.”
The new cookies will be chewy as the name suggests, and feature milk and white chocolate chips, as well as rainbow sprinkles mixed in.
“Chewy Confetti Cake Flavored Cookies taste great on their own or can be paired with ice cream for one deliciously happy treat!” Chips Ahoy! suggests.
Sounds like 2023 is already getting off to a fun start!

]]>The French are known for their baking skills (croissants, macarons, need we go on?) and there is something so simple yet satisfying about a sandwich served on a baguette. In fact, more than 3 million jambon-beurre, which consists of butter and ham on a baguette, are sold in France each day.
The humble bread has now been included on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Other notable elements on the list include kimchi from Korea, Neapolitan pizza in Italy, and beer culture in Belgium.
An element makes the cut if it fits UNESCO’s 6 criteria which includes constituting “intangible cultural heritage as defined in Article 2 of the Convention,” and being “in urgent need of safeguarding because its viability is at risk despite the efforts of the community.”
UNESCO’s director-general—who previously served as France’s former minister of culture—Audrey Azoulay, welcomed the announcement, stating, “This will make people realize that this regular baguette that they know very well, is something precious. It comes from history, and it has character and it’s important to make the public aware of this, to be proud of it.”
