Okay, so you know guacamole, right? That creamy avocado dip spread that’s a must-have in every social gathering? Well, while it’s already the epitome of yumminess as is, there’s a simple secret ingredient that can really take it to the next level.

So, get ready to level up your guac game with (drumroll)… roasted garlic.

Roasting Your Way to Perfection

All you have to do is slice off the top of a whole garlic bulb to expose the cloves, drizzle it with olive oil, wrap it up in foil, and put it in the oven for 30-40 minutes until it’s soft and caramelized.

Later, when you’re mashing up some ripe avocados to make your guacamole, you just need to mash those golden nuggets too, and throw them in the mix.

The result will be a rich, flavorful variation of traditional guacamole that’ll make your inner chef proud. Think creamy avocado meets sweet, caramelized garlic—It’s definitely a match made in culinary heaven.

So, next time you’re whipping up a batch of guac for taco night or just the occasional Netflix binge, remember the roasted garlic trick. Your homemade guacamole will never be basic again.

We love all things garlic, and now, we’re introducing you to garlic confit. “Confit” refers to cooking something by submerging it in fat or oil—usually this method is used to cook meat, and results in tender, falling apart in your mouth results you can’t get enough of. It turns out that you can do the same with garlic.

By submerging garlic in oil with herbs, the cloves lose their bitterness and instead become sweet and tender, while the oil itself gets beautifully infused with the taste of garlic. And luckily, it’s super easy to make.

How to Make It

Peel four heads of garlic and combine with one and a half cups of olive oil in a saucepan. You can add herbs of your choice—we like adding thyme and even some chiles to give it a little kick. Add some salt and simmer the mixture on the stove for about 45 minutes, and you’ll be left with tender cloves. Let it cool and transfer to a clear glass jar.

How to Use It

There are endless ways to use this. You can add the cloves themselves to butter and mash together to get a delicious garlic butter perfect for bread or chicken. Use the oil for cooking vegetables or even toasting your sandwich. Put in dips or add to mashed potatoes—really anywhere that needs a bit of extra garlic.

Who can resist the heavenly combination of warm bread, melted cheese, and the aromatic flavors of garlic? Cheesy garlic bread is the ultimate comfort food that can elevate any meal or be enjoyed on its own. Here is a fun and easy recipe for making irresistible cheesy garlic bread that will have your taste buds dancing with delight.

Ingredients:

  • 1 French baguette or Italian loaf
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Start by slicing the baguette or Italian loaf lengthwise, creating two halves. Place them on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread halves, ensuring complete coverage.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the buttered bread. Then, evenly sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Place the baking sheet with the bread in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread turns golden brown.
  7. Once baked, remove the cheesy garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. This allows the cheese to set slightly before slicing.
  8. Cut the bread into slices and serve warm.

Tips

  • For an extra kick of flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a sprinkle of dried oregano to the garlic butter mixture.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as cheddar, Gruyere, or a blend of your favorites.
  • To take it up a notch, you can brush the bread with a little olive oil before spreading the garlic butter mixture for added richness.

If you always add extra garlic to recipes or order the garlic bread as an appetizer before getting your garlic pasta, you’re not alone. We’re garlic people too. And just like you, we suffer from terrible, stinky garlic breath after many of our meals. If you’ve been looking for the perfect remedy for this smelly problem, we have the answers for you. Try out these three foods to get rid of your garlic breath.

Green Tea

Green tea has many benefits, but one that’s less well-known is that green tea has antioxidants called polyphenols. These antioxidants help to cover up the chemicals in garlic that cause the odor we all know and hate.

Apples

Apples work in a similar way to green tea. The same enzymes that turn a sliced apple brown after being left to sit for a while actually helps to cover up bad smells, including that of garlic.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is a great defense against bad breath. The acid in the juice is able to neutralize the enzyme in garlic that causes our breath to stink. If you are suffering from smelly garlic breath, drink some lemon juice or bite into a lemon wedge and experience the magic.

As far as bread goes, we have to admit that garlic bread is our favorite. There’s just something magical about how well the pungent garlic melts into the soft bread that makes it the perfect addition to any meal (or an entire meal on its own!) If you can’t get enough of the stuff, here are some ways to make it even better!

Get it Crisp

Good garlic bread is crisp on the crust and pillowy on the inside. Great garlic bread is crispy and crunchy all the way through. If sinking your teeth into toast is one of your favorite sensations, grilling your garlic bread will give you the same happiness.

Confit for the Win

As the main star of the show, there are many ways to add the garlic. You could rub a clove along the bread to get a subtle but strong hit of flavor. Mincing the garlic will make it more pungent due to the breakdown of the cell’s walls. But our personal favorite is confiting the cloves in hot oil to make them melt in your mouth.

Don’t Stop There

Garlic bread is quite perfect as it is, but adding other elements can make it even better. Anchovies are one ingredient that sits particularly nicely atop garlic bread, as does goat’s cheese, or caramelized onion.

Have you been struggling to come up with new ideas for side dishes lately? Well, don’t fret, because the possibilities are endless and we’re here to suggest a simple, nutritious, and delicious option that you are sure to love: garlic-sauteed zucchini.

Here’s how to make it yourself!

Ingredients

  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese

Instructions

First, you will want to wash your zucchini and slice it into pieces that are between a quarter and a half-inch thick.

Next, melt the butter in a large skillet on medium-low heat on your stove. Once you’ve done this, add the zucchini slices to the skillet and then add the garlic powder, salt, and black pepper and saute for 5-10 minutes. You’ll want to wait until the zucchini is soft and transparent.

Just before taking the skillet off of the heat, add the parmesan cheese and stir in to ensure that it is evenly distributed throughout the zucchini.

Roasted garlic is so easy to make but you wouldn’t know it by how much flavor it brings to any dish. It only involves garlic cloves and sometimes some olive oil to make something really special. Here is how to make it and some wonderful ways to use it.

Instructions

  1. If you want to use a lot of garlic, then you should use the whole head of garlic.
  2. Start by cutting off about about 1/4-1/2 an inch from the top of the head so you can see the beginning of the inside of the cloves.
  3. Drizzle over some olive oil, lightly wrap in tin foil, and bake at 400 F for 30-40 minutes.
  4. If you just want to use a few cloves at a time, simply take the cloves you want still in their skin, and bake at the same temperature for about 10 minutes, checking on it so they don’t burn.

Uses

Roasted garlic can be used in place of regular garlic in all sorts of dishes, like sauces and dips. The cloves will be really soft and spreadable so you can actually just spread them right on bread! You can also add them to macaroni and cheese, and vegetable side dish, or in dishes like roasted chicken.

Did you know that hamburgers don’t always have to be served with lettuce, tomato, and ketchup?

It’s easy to get creative and add unique and flavorful toppings that aren’t so common to your next hamburger. The template of meat and a bun allows for endless variety, and you can go crazy based on the flavors that you enjoy.

Here are five suggestions for burger toppings that you might not have heard of, but that you might love.

Hummus

While it might be hard to picture this Middle Eastern delicacy being served on a burger, the combination of the meat along with the hummus is perfect. It’s even better if you add a vegetable like cucumber or tomato.

Peanut Butter & Jelly

Combining two classic sandwiches in one? Is this sacrilege? Although a PB&J burger might sound strange, the combination between sweet and savory will have your taste buds singing for joy.

Grilled Pineapple

If pineapple can work on pizza, why not on a hamburger? While grilling the beef patty, slap a thick slice of pineapple on the grill as well, and add it to the finished product. You’ll be surprised at how well it works.

Guacamole

The rich, savory, and creamy flavor of guacamole is another exciting addition to your favorite burger. You can try it with another compliment such as hot sauce or pepper jack cheese to give your burger a south-of-the-border vibe.

Garlic Confit

Garlic confit is made by frying whole garlic cloves in lots of oil until they are meaty. After this, the magic is ready to happen. Spread your garlic confit onto the bun and marvel in just how tasty this can be.

Allow to cool for a few minutes, and then serve and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 16-oz tube refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into 8 1-inch square cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

  1. Set the oven to 400 F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Take the biscuit dough out of the packaging. Divide it into 8 parts and make small round balls.
  3. Place 1 cheese cube into each of the biscuit bombs and cover the cheese with dough all around.
  4. Align the bombs on the baking sheet. Do this with all of the dough pieces.
  5. Let the bombs bake for 10 minutes, but make sure to check them constantly.
  6. In the meantime, prepare the topping. Place the butter in a bowl and in the microwave. Microwave it for 30 to 60 seconds until completely melted.
  7. Add in the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt. Mix all the ingredients together.
  8. Once you take out the biscuit bombs from the oven, add the mixture on top. Finish off with chopped parsley and serve them while hot. Add marinara or any other favorite dipping sauce on the side.
