This delectable recipe for Guinness gravy introduces a rich and savory sauce that will enhance the flavors of your favorite dishes. Perfect for drizzling over roast beef, mashed potatoes, or any comfort food of your choice, this Guinness-infused gravy is a wonderfully hearty addition to your table.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of Guinness beer (stout)
  • 2 cups of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Optional: Herbs for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Melt unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Gradually whisk in all-purpose flour until a golden-brown roux forms.
  2. Slowly pour in the Guinness beer, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Allow the mixture to simmer, letting the beer’s malty notes infuse into the roux.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and add Worcestershire sauce. Continue stirring to combine the ingredients. Let the gravy simmer until it reaches your desired thickness, adjusting with more broth or flour as needed.
  4. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add herbs of your choice for an extra layer of complexity.
  5. Once the perfect consistency and flavor profile are achieved, pour the Guinness gravy over your chosen dishes.

Gravy is one of those sauces that can go with almost everything. Whether you’re serving it with biscuits, alongside a traditional roast dinner, or even over your fries, its savory taste and smooth texture make it a winning addition to many meals. If you’re looking to make your own, check out this recipe for the best-ever gravy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 leek
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 stick of celery
  • 1 onion
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup of red wine
  • 1/2 cup of chickpeas
  • 1 tbsp of cranberry sauce
  • 1 cup of water

Instructions:

Finely slice the vegetables, place them in a large non-stick pan, and dry fry for 10-15 minutes, until they are softened and beginning to turn golden brown (use a splash of water to prevent burning if needed).

Stir the butter into the pan, cook for 5 minutes and then add the water, wine, cranberry sauce, chickpeas, and the stock cube. Let the liquid cook away, then pour into a food processor and blend until smooth. To serve, reheat for 5 minutes.

This vegetarian recipe is easily adapted, if you have meat juices or stock simply reduce the amount of water you add into the recipe. Try replacing the chickpeas with cooked chestnuts, for a sweeter, creamier gravy.

Almond milk is such a good product to keep on hand. Not only can you use it for your morning coffee and cereal, but it can also be used to replace milk in so many ways. Here are two classic recipes that use almond milk instead of regular milk but still maintain a high level of flavor.

Gravy

Making vegan gravy is so delicious and is actually really easy to do if you have almond milk on hand! All you need is to saute diced onions, mushrooms, and garlic with dried sage and salt. Then, whisk in flour and let the flavor cookout. Add in almond milk and vegetable stock and whisk until smooth. Let it cook for another few minutes and you’re all set!

Mashed Potatoes

Vegan mashed potatoes are just the thing you want when you need something light and fluffy but also homey and filling. Start off by peeling and boiling potatoes in water until they’re soft. Drain them and put them back into the pot. Add in softened chopped garlic, vegan butter,Β and almond milk a little bit at a time and mash until it’s the consistency you want. Finish with salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!

Gravy is one of the biggest staples in the south. This sauce is super versatile and simply makes everything taste juicier and more delicious.

This gravy is perfect for any occasions, whether it’s poured over cauliflower steaks for dinner or mashed potatoes on the side. You can also use it with grits or just to make any vegetable taste more delicious and hearty.

Ingredients

For this gravy, you will need 1/2 cup of any neutral oil, one chopped onion, 5 cloves of garlic minced, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 4 teaspoons of nutritional yeast, 4 tablespoons of light soy sauce, 2 cups of veggie broth, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and dried sage.

Method

  1. Fry the onions and garlic together in the oil over medium heat until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the flour, nutritional yeast, and soy sauce into the pan. The mixture should resemble a smooth paste.
  3. Then, whisk in the 2 cups of broth to break up the paste but create a smooth sauce.
  4. Season with the salt and sage and a few cracks of black pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce to a simmer and stick constantly until it’s nice and thick about 10 minutes.
  6. Take off the heat and enjoy!

Saturday Breakfastβ˜€ This morning I tried veganizing Brady’s all time favorite breakfast: potato hash with country gravy. The potatoes were pretty simple, just red potatoes, onions and mushrooms cooked in a cast iron skillet so they got the nice crunchy bits that bring so much flavor. The country gravy was made using store-bought vegan breakfast patties. Then I just made the gravy like I did before I was vegan: crumble the sausage, coat it in flour and then slowly add in the almond milk and let cook on low until it was creamy and thick. Since the sausage didn’t have the exact right flavor I was looking for, I added in some fennel seed, garlic, red chili flakes and lots of pepper. I served it with some buttery sourdough toastπŸ˜‹ For a first try this was a pretty good breakfast, but I’ll definitely be making this again until I get that gravy down juuuuust right😍 Do you have a favorite weekend breakfast? β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€β˜€ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ #saturdaymorning #saturdaybreakfast #weekendbreakfast #veganized #vegangravy #countrygravy #meatlesssausage #meatfree #dairyfree #meatlesseveryday #sourdoughbread #veganbutter #almondmilk #countrypotatoes #potatohash #eggfree #veganfeed #veganbreakfast #happyhusband #vegancooking #anythingyoucaneaticaneatvegan #veganfoodie #veganfoodlover #veganfoodblog #veganblogger #veganbowls #veganbowl #socreamy #sofull #gobottomless
