]]>The basic components of dark chocolate are cocoa solids, cocoa butter, sugar, and sometimes an emulsifier like soy lecithin. The higher the percentage of cocoa solids, the darker (and less sweet) the chocolate typically is.
Some dark chocolates contain milk fat, butter oil, or other dairy derivatives to add richness. The sugar used in chocolate can also be processed with bone char, although this is more common in North America than in other regions. Some strict vegans avoid sugar processed this way. And, occasionally, dark chocolate may contain additives or flavorings derived from animals.
Not all dark chocolate is vegan, but there is a considerable amount of vegan-friendly dark chocolate available on the market. Whether you are a strict or a more flexible vegan, a little research and label reading can lead you to delicious dark chocolate options.

]]>For an unusual, yet undeniably delicious treat, this ice cream by Chez Jorge does not disappoint. As if black sesame-flavored ice cream weren’t unorthodox enough, it also includes an optional recipe for a soy sauce caramel topping. Both components are 100% vegan and come together easily without an ice cream machine.
The Great Banana Bread Trend of 2020 may be behind us, but this recipe is one that we’ll continue to turn to for years to come. Cassava flour makes it naturally gluten-free, while coconut sugar and ripe bananas provide a touch of sweetness without being overbearing.
This recipe by Emily Laurae swaps the more obvious choice of black sesame filling with a fresh and floral apricot buttercream. The result is a light, flavorful macaron that perfectly strikes the balance between nutty and fruity.

]]>If you’ve chosen a plant-based lifestyle, you really can’t enjoy the pleasure of boxed funfetti cake anymore. You can, however, make it at home as a dip but vegan style!
This funfetti-inspired dip has all those super yummy flavors you loved as a kid, but it is super high in protein, much healthier, and you can even make the whole thing in a food processor! Let’s get to dipping!
The main ingredient for this recipe might sound strange, but you really won’t taste it.
For this dip, you will need:
half of a block of medium firm tofu
3 tablespoons of oat flour
1 tablespoon of cashew butter or any type of nut butter you have
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
4 tablespoons of maple syrup
3 tablespoons of unsweetened vegan yogurt
a pinch of salt
and sprinkles!
Place all the ingredients except for the sprinkles into a food processor and have it mix everything together until the dip comes out with a smooth consistency.
Once the texture is where you want it, pour it out and mix in the sprinkles.
Put it in a bowl, top with more sprinkles, and serve!
