What’s your favorite way to enjoy eggs? Whether you like them hard-boiled, over-easy, or scrambled, this popular food is a favorite at breakfast time and during the rest of the day in most places. One of our favorite ways to eat eggs is scrambled with cheese. Want to learn how to make these perfectly with little effort? Here’s how:

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Start off with a frying pan and a little bit of olive oil. Place the pan on medium heat on the stove.
  2. Next, you’ll want to break the eggs into the pan and whisk them together thoroughly, being sure to fully mix the egg whites with the yolks.
  3. After you’ve done this, add the milk to the blended eggs and whisk together thoroughly. The milk will add an extra creaminess to the texture of the scrambled eggs!
  4. Finally, add the cheese, stir together, and wait for the eggs to become slightly fluffy. Move and mix the eggs to be sure that they don’t burn and that they are cooked evenly.
  5. Take the scrambled eggs out, place them on a plate, and add salt and black pepper to taste. Enjoy!

Composting has become a common thing to do for many people, taking organic food waste and turning it into nutrient-rich soil for use in the garden. While most food scraps from our kitchens can be used in these compost piles, there are some things that you have to be careful to not add to the compost. Here are some of them.

Meat Scraps

It might be tempting to just throw scraps of meat that you don’t consume into the compost pile, but this can cause big problems. Meat attracts pests and animals that can invade your compost pile and it just doesn’t break down in a way that helps your compost.

If you haven’t heard that this is going to be an amazing year for blackberries, you’re hearing it now. Our berry patch was planted in 2011, and although it’s become more stylish as the years have past, it’s not always been what I’d call super productive. A couple years ago I trained the thornless ‘Chester’ canes into a simple parallel trellis of copper piping, and it has really helped to manage them. But the second thing I did may be the secret to the motherload. I stopped blowing my leaves, and instead raked all the leaves on the grass and the beds into this spot. So basically the blackberries (and a few raspberries) are all growing directly out of a giant compost pile. And they seem to be delighted about it! As you can see behind the beds, the canes are LOADED with flowers! Now, let’s be honest. The undergardeners and I can never really control ourselves to keep from eating them right out of the patch. But I’m praying that this year is the year we actually make that cobbler, 🙏🤞🙏🥧👩‍🌾👨‍🍳👦👦👦👧🥳🥳🥳. #berrypatch #inmygarden #yesterdaysgarden #raisedbedgardening #kitchengarden #veggiepatch #homegarden #myfrontyard #leafmold #compostpile #chesterblackberries #gardendesign #gardenswing #potager #americana #blackberries #homegrown #desperatelyseekingcobbler #growsomethinggreen #raisedbeds #gardenersworld #kale #garlic #cabbages #beansprouts #thehappygardeninglife #farmtotable #growyourown #gardendreams #lucysgardenlife

Dairy Products

Another group of animal products that you shouldn’t put into your compost pile is dairy. Yogurts, ice creams, milk, and other items should be disposed of differently because they will sour, rot, and potentially attract animals and other pests to your compost.

Cooking Oil

Oil is something that should be disposed of carefully in designated drop-off places and not added to your compost pile. Cooking oil doesn’t biodegrade like other plant products do and its smell can attract hungry animals to your compost, which can ruin it.

Now's the time! Fall is the best time to amend your soil for better growth and drainage in the spring. Adding Compost to Soil: Some experts recommend that compost be spread over the soil and not mixed in. This is because digging will disturb the delicate mycorrhizal fungi, which help plants access nutrients from deep in the earth. However, in clay or sandy soils, amending soil with compost will enhance the soil enough to warrant such disruption. If your soil has a good texture, you can simply spread the compost on the surface. Over time, rain, worms and other natural actions will wash the compost into the plant’s roots. If you are making your own potting soil, mix compost in 1 part compost with 1 part each peat, perlite, and top soil. A good rule of thumb on using soil and compost to perk up the garden is not to use more than 3 inches (7.6 cm.). Vegetable gardens benefit from this higher range unless you had already worked in the previous season’s yard waste. The moka pot, a favorite for making coffee in places like Latin America and Southern Europe, has gained traction as a trendy coffee device all over the world in recent years. Consisting of a simple stovetop device, it’s easy to make a strong cup of joe using the beloved moka pot.

However, there are some key errors that people unfamiliar with the machine’s design tend to make, especially when starting out. Be sure not to make these mistakes when brewing in a moka pot.

Fill the Pot with Cold Water

Do not fill the moka pot’s reservoir with cold water when making a batch of coffee with it! Why? Cold water takes longer to heat than warm or hot water, which can cause the ground coffee in the device’s middle chamber to burn and make bitter and unpleasant-tasting coffee.

Leave the Pot on the Burner After Brewing

As soon as the last of the finished coffee bubbles up and into the top chamber of the moka pot, remove it from the heat of the stove. If you leave the moka pot on the burner after brewing, your coffee will begin to boil, making it taste burnt and rancid.

Use Your Pot without Regular Cleaning

It’s all too easy to just keep reusing your moka pot without washing or cleaning it between uses. The best practice for using one, however, includes a thorough washing after every use to be sure that mold and taste-altering particles are prevented from developing in the pot.

Doritos are a popular corn chip snack food that is enjoyed in many countries throughout the world where it is sold. While most Americans are familiar with conventional flavors like nacho cheese and sweet chili, the flavors in Japan are like nothing you’ve probably ever imagined.

Check out these crazy flavors which you can only find in Japan. Do you think you’d like them?

Sriracha

Sriracha is a popular Southeast Asian hot sauce that is made with a paste of chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, sugar, and water. This taste has made its way to Doritos in Japan, a country where this hot sauce has reached great popularity.

Black Garlic

Can you believe that black garlic has found its way onto a Dorito in Japan? This flavor, which contains chips that have been colored black, is an experience that will overwhelm your senses with sharp garlic flavor.

Steak

That’s right, steak-flavored Dorito chips are a thing in Japan. If you are a meat lover, there’s no doubt that you will immediately fall in love with the beefy flavor of these chips, which is strangely reminiscent of steak nachos.

Have you noticed that your grocery bill has been going up recently? It’s easy to spend way too much at the grocery store, with tons of small products adding up to a whole lot of money.

Fortunately, it isn’t impossible to reduce our spending at the supermarket with just a little bit of caution and know-how. Following these three simple tips will amaze you in terms of how much you can save!

Opt for Generic Products Instead of Name Brands

Why buy name-brand products that can be up to twice as expensive as generic, store-brand products that taste just the same? These products almost always contain the exact same ingredients and are often even produced in the same facilities.

Don’t Buy Excess Produce

Buying lots of fruits and vegetables isn’t a bad thing in and of itself when there’s a good deal on, but the problem is that you probably won’t be able to eat all of it before it goes bad. Limit your purchases of fresh produce, which will reduce both your bill and your food waste.

Take Advantage of Sales

Who doesn’t love a good sale? Taking advantage of discounted products at the supermarket is always a great idea. Just be sure to make sure of the fact that the food being sold expires after you plan to consume it.

Blueberries are, without a doubt, one of my favorite fruits. These little beauties have just come into season in the Northern Hemisphere and should be available fresh and local through the end of the summer.

Not only are they delicious, but blueberries are also full of health benefits that make them a no-brainer when choosing fruits to enjoy. Here are some of the reasons that make these berries so great for your body.

Antioxidant Boost

Blueberries just might be the most antioxidant-rich fruit out there. Flavonoids, a particular class of antioxidants that are great for reducing inflammation and cancer-causing free radicals in the body, are found in high concentrations in these fruits.

Low in Sugar

Despite being sweet to the palate, the reality is that blueberries actually have a low sugar concentration and are quite low in calories. In fact, a 100-gram serving of this fruit contains only 10 grams of sugars and 57 calories.

Lots of Vitamins

Despite being low in calories and sugar, blueberries are full of beneficial vitamins and nutrients that work together to maintain your body’s health. You’ll get between  25 and 35 percent of your recommended daily value of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and manganese in a serving of blueberries along with 4 grams of fiber.

Staying healthy is something that is on everyone’s minds these days. With a scary pandemic currently expanding throughout the globe, it’s now more important than ever to follow a diet that provides key vitamins and minerals that help keep your immune system in tip-top shape.

Make sure you are getting plenty of the following nutrients in your diet, both now and in the future, to stay as healthy as possible!

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a crucial element in keeping your immune system going strong. While your body receives natural doses of this vitamin from sunlight, you can also find plenty of it in dairy products, fish, mushrooms, and eggs.

Zinc

Zinc is a trace element that isn’t found in many foods but is essential for maintaining a healthy immune system. While supplements can be a good choice for raising zinc levels, there is also a healthy amount of this nutrient in meat, legumes like chickpeas and lentils, and shellfish such as oysters.

Vitamin C

It might seem obvious, but it’s easy to forget just how important it is to consume Vitamin C throughout the year in order to keep your defenses up. Citrus fruits are a great place to find lots of Vitamin C, and you can also find it in other produce like tomatoes, kiwis, and peppers.

Have you ever tried tinto de verano before? While sangria might be the most famous wine cocktail from Spain, this similar product is actually much more popular within the country’s borders and also simpler to make.

Want to learn how to make a tinto de verano at home? It’s super easy! Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients

  • Young red wine (non-aged)
  • Soda water
  • Lemon
  • Ice

Instructions

Start off by taking either a pitcher or a glass, depending on how large of a drink that you would like to make.

After you have done this, add equal parts of soda water, a neutral-tasting drink that contains carbonated water and sugar, and young red wine. You want a wine that hasn’t been aged and that has light to medium flavor and body, such as Spain’s famous tempranillo.

After mixing the two beverages together, take a couple of ice cubes and put it inside of your glass.

Garnish the drink with a slice of lemon, squeezing it into the drink if you would like to add a bit of citrus flavor.

That’s it! Your tinto de verano is ready to be drunk. We hope you enjoy!

Making bland meat dishes is all too easy to do if you don’t have the right tools at your disposal. Many a dinner has been ruined over the years after a bland piece of chicken or pork was served up without any type of flavor or charm.

What’s the best way to fix this problem? Well, the answer is marination. By soaking meat in a mix of liquids and spices for a few hours before cooking it, you can imbue your dish with whatever flavors tickle your fancy.

One of the best marinades is a spicy citrus marinade that goes great with pork tenderloin or chicken breast.
