The post How to Make Your Veggie Spread an Artistic Masterpiece appeared first on falafelandcaviar.com.
]]>Think of your platter as a canvas, and your veggies as the paint. Bright reds (bell peppers, tomatoes), vibrant greens (cucumbers, broccoli), deep purples (eggplants, beets), sunny yellows (summer squash, bell peppers), and earthy oranges (carrots, sweet potatoes) will make a visually arresting display.
Create patterns or shapes with your veggies, or arrange them in a gradient from light to dark. Consider using techniques like radial arrangements, where veggies radiate out from a central point, or creating a mosaic effect with small, diced vegetables.
Finally, elevate your veggie spread by incorporating edible flowers, fresh herbs, or even fruit for a touch of sweetness. Flowers like nasturtiums, violets, and marigolds are great options. Herbs like basil, dill, and cilantro can add freshness and aroma, enhancing the overall appeal of your spread.

]]>The gherkin manufacturers, which first began operating in 1942, have drawn inspiration from what they know and created the world’s first candle that smells like a jar of pickles!
The unusual item is a collaboration with the brand Candier by Ryan Porter which is known for making candles with amusing scents with funny names like “know your worth and add tax,” and “I’m not coming unless there’s wine”.
“We saw a huge opportunity to do something really fun and different with Vlasic in celebration of National Pickle Day. But creating a candle that looks and smells like a real jar of pickles posed several big challenges,” said Krysten Kauder who founded Candier. “Getting the wax pickles to look like they’re floating in clear liquid was really tough. So, everything had to be done by hand, including the placement of the pickles and pouring of the wax. After lots of rounds of research and testing, our team nailed it and produced a 100% wax candle that looks and smells like a jar of Vlasic pickles.”
Just don’t be tempted to grab a gherkin!

]]>The post Is Cooking Truly a Form of Art? appeared first on falafelandcaviar.com.
]]>In all art forms, and in life as well, there is a profound balance at work. This balance is between the source, or the foundation—and the exploration. Another way to describe it would be healthy teamwork between rules and experimentation. This balance is a cornerstone of art, and it’s hugely important in the kitchen as well.
Art isn’t just about doing whatever you feel like. It’s about practicing rules and believing in the foundations of what came earlier. Once these rules become second nature, at that point an artist can break free from the mold and try something new. This is certainly true with cooking, for only after a chef understands the essentials for a dish can he or she explore their unique voice within that recipe. So yes—cooking is certainly an art form, and a proud one at that!

]]>VineyardBaker’s Instagram reads, “Putting the Art in Artisan Breads, WARNING: : this site contains gluten,” and she’s definitely making bread into beautiful works of art.
Her breads are completely edible and the flower designs are made from cut-up sliced vegetables and chives.
To create your very own bread art start by using a basic tomato herb focaccia and substituting the tomatoes for capers, kalamata olives, peppers, grape tomatoes, and fresh herbs.
VineyardBaker recommends waiting for the dough to rise before pressing the vegetables into the bread and if you’re using wet vegetables, pat them dry after you slice them. This will help prevent your bread from getting soggy.
The Instagrammer’s work isn’t limited to nature motifs. In addition to flower-topped focaccia, she makes sourdough bread with intricate patterns and fun shapes like football pretzel rolls, that she whipped up for the Super Bowl.
