If you’re a big fan of burgers, but not the fast-food experience that is traditionally American, New York City is the place to be. With many fine dining experiences to choose from, we’ve got you covered with some our top recommendations for some of Manhattan’s best and most expensive burgers that are worth the price.

Charles Prime Rib, West Village

This joint has been commonly dubbed as the best burger in NYC, serving up 10 oz double Wagyu Cheeseburgers, coming in at just $37. It’s on the pricier side but is run by the same family that owns one of the best burger joints in Chicago as well.

Minnetta Tavern, West Village

The black label burger served here is one of the most hyped up in all of NYC. It has consistently been voted one of the best burgers on several lists in NYC and truly does not disappoint.

Raoul’s Soho

This place only serves 12 of their delicious burgers during their brunch hours so catch them if you’re lucky. This unique burger comes jam packed on a challah roll with cheese, watercress, and cornichons. It’s served with a side of fries and with the restaurant’s famous sauce that one must dip their burger in.

Mocha Burger

This spot is great for fans of big burgers that do not disappoint. Coming at $65, their most expensive burger is also their best seller, and a must-try for meat lovers. The S’Mocha MBurger with Smoke Show is a 12 oz burger with pastrami, pulled beef, lamb bacon, crunchy onions, chips, pickles, coleslaw and their famous MB sauce.

There’s nothing like a perfectly executed burger for lunch or dinner. But many people can’t enjoy a traditional burger because they don’t eat red meat or any meat at all. Fortunately, there are many alternatives to the standard beef burger, and whether you are exploring them for health or ethical reasons, or if you just want to try something new, these are some great ideas for your next burger night.

Turkey Burger

Nobody would mistake a turkey burger for a regular beef burger, but with the proper seasonings, you can make a juicy and flavorful burger with even the leanest turkey meat. Consider pairing with smoked gouda to make for a richer flavor profile.

Salmon Burger

Salmon is a delicious and healthy fish loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, but you don’t have to limit yourself to simple salmon filets. Processing salmon pieces with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic, and lemon juice makes for a tasty base, while adding panko breadcrumbs keeps these patties firm and cohesive.

Bison Burger

This is about as close as you can get to a beef burger without going with the real deal Bison has a rich, meaty flavor, similar in profile and consistency to beef. However, it is higher in protein and lower in fat, making it leaner which gives it a lighter feel. If you want all the flavor without the lethargic after-effects, bison may just be the way to go.

Mushroom Burger

We didn’t forget about the vegetarians! While the market for meat alternatives is quickly expanding, many of the top-rated meatless burgers are expensive and difficult to emulate at home. Mushrooms, however, can make for an easy burger that is both earthy and meaty. Finely chop some mushrooms and add your favorite seasonings – we recommend thyme, oregano, garlic, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Combine with breadcrumbs and eggs and form your patties. For a vegan mushroom burger, replace the eggs with flaxseed meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chorizo sausage
  • 1 lb ground sirloin
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 3 sliced medium onions
  • 4 large kaiser rolls
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 roasted red pepper cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 1 chopped medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon Spanish paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 oz grated manchego cheese
  • 1 pinch powdered saffron
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions:

  1. Get a bowl and combine the ground chorizo and ground sirloin together.
  2. Use a skillet to heat 1 tablespoon oil. Cook the chopped onion until it becomes soft.
  3. When it’s done, put it in a blender. Also, include the paprika, ranch dressing, red pepper, and saffron to the mix.
  4. Blend the ingredients to get a paste. Place it in the fridge while you’re preparing the rest of the recipe.
  5. Heat the rest of the oil and cook the salt, pepper, onions, and brown sugar together.
  6. After 15 minutes the onions will have a light brown color, that’s when the mixture is done.
  7. Now, get the meat and divide it into four patties. Cook them on the grill for 5 minutes per side.
  8. Get the buns, cut them in half and toast them. Add the patties, caramelized onions, then the ranch sauce.
  9. Top the chorizo burger off with cheese.

An egg in the hole is a classic combination of an egg fried inside a hole in a slice of bread! This makes for a scrumptious breakfast, of course, but it also can be the base for a really fun sandwich! So here’s how you make it, and how you can put a spin on it.

Classic

https://www.instagram.com/p/BtJdETcHH5a/

To make the traditional egg in the hole, take a piece of bread and cut out a hole in the center using a cookie cutter, shot glass, or whatever you have. Heat up butter in a skillet and put the bread into it. Add a little more butter inside the hole and then crack in the egg into the hole. Season with salt and pepper, wait a couple of minutes, and then flip carefully. Cook for another couple of minutes and you’re done!

Variations

https://www.instagram.com/p/BXx6E4mAJY0/

After you’ve made the classic, you can then use the bread as the base to a number of sandwiches! You can make another classic like a BLT, or go a cheesy route with various cheeses and veggies.

A really cool thing to do is to make the egg in the hole with a burger bun instead of regular bread to mimic the idea of putting a fried egg on top of a patty!

Chorizo and a 🍔 sittin' in a tree… ❤

A post shared by Kailley Lindman Federighi (@kailleyskitchen) on

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chorizo sausage
  • 1 lb ground sirloin
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 3 sliced medium onions
  • 4 large kaiser rolls
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 roasted red pepper cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 1 chopped medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon Spanish paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 oz grated manchego cheese
  • 1 pinch powdered saffron
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions:

  1. Get a bowl and combine the ground chorizo and ground sirloin together.
  2. Use a skillet to heat 1 tablespoon oil. Cook the chopped onion until it becomes soft.
  3. When it’s done, put it in a blender. Also, include the paprika, ranch dressing, red pepper, and saffron to the mix.
  4. Blend the ingredients to get a paste. Place it in the fridge while you’re preparing the rest of the recipe.
  5. Heat the rest of the oil and cook the salt, pepper, onions, and brown sugar together.
  6. After 15 minutes the onions will have a light brown color, that’s when the mixture is done.
  7. Now, get the meat and divide it into four patties. Cook them on the grill for 5 minutes per side.
  8. Get the buns, cut them in half and toast them. Add the patties, caramelized onions, then the ranch sauce.
  9. Top the chorizo burger off with cheese.

There are so many different burger recipes online, so you never have to have the same one again. If you have a Sunday BBQ going on with friends and family, you can surprise them with these tasty and easy pork and apple burgers. The total cooking time is 20 minutes.

Ingredients

For the pork and apple burgers, you need:
4 rolls
salad
1 chopped onion
500 g pork mince
1 grated carrot
1 grated apple
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped sage
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons breadcrumbs

Instructions

Before you start making the burgers set the oven to 200 C degrees.

Get a pan and add the oil. When it’s hot, include the onions and cook them for 3 to 4 minutes. Once they’re brown transfer them to a plate and set them aside.

In a bowl combine the carrot, pork, apple, mustard, sage, and breadcrumbs. Mix all the ingredients well with your hands.

Once you’re done, you can divide the mix into 4 patties. Place them on a baking pan and in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Now it’s time to put together your burgers. Add the salad on the rolls then the patties. Serve them with a side of French fries and your favorite sauces. Bon appetit!

Variations

After you’ve made the classic, you can then use the bread as the base to a number of sandwiches! You can make another classic like a BLT, or go a cheesy route with various cheeses and veggies.

A really cool thing to do is to make the egg in the hole with a burger bun instead of regular bread to mimic the idea of putting a fried egg on top of a patty!
