]]>Real Coffee, or brewed coffee, is the classic way to get your caffeine fix. It’s made from ground coffee beans and brewed through various methods like a drip coffee maker or French press. One of the advantages of real coffee is that it often tastes richer and more aromatic. From a health perspective, it contains more antioxidants, which can help fight off harmful molecules in your body.
On the other hand, instant coffee is a convenient and quicker option. It’s made by freeze-drying brewed coffee, turning it into a powder that you can mix with hot water. Okay, so it’s more inconvenient, but from a health perspective it doesn’t have as many antioxidants as real coffee. So the answer is pretty clear: instant is technically less healthy than brewed coffee, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go for it if you’re seeking convenience!

Adore Pumpkin Spice Lattes? A huge fan of Peppermint Mochas? Starbucks’ seasonal drinks are some of their most popular items, but, as with life, everything has its season. The ingredients for these drinks are only available in store during their designated season which means that baristas can’t make you a PSL in May as much as you beg.
Starbucks uses a dark roast espresso for their lattes, while most local shops use a medium roast espresso. If you enjoy your coffee strong, stick with dark; otherwise, ask your barista to rather make your drink with blonde espresso.

]]>Starbucks has a reputation of being the penultimate go-to coffee spot, but this also allows people to give themselves “free passes” when it comes to drinking Frappuccinos. Since Frappuccinos are under the Starbucks brand name, it gives us the feeling that we’re simply drinking coffee or a certain variation of it. But while there is coffee in Starbucks Fraps, it pales in comparison to the amount of sugar that gets put in it.
In other words, Fraps are more like desserts as opposed to on-the-go coffees—and yet they’re often treated and consumed like the latter. Fraps on the go are a commonality, and while there’s truly nothing wrong with that, it may not be ideal if you’re trying to stay healthy. Coffee itself isn’t particularly healthy either, but at least you know when you’re drinking it—whereas sugar lurks maliciously in Fraps where you least expect it.

]]>The post Should You Really Try Adding Salt to Your Coffee? appeared first on falafelandcaviar.com.
]]>There are several reasons why some people add salt to their coffee and most of them are actually backed by science. According to coffee expert Sara Marquart, the salt rounds up the flavor of the coffee and negates bitterness. “Salt naturally brings out the sweetness of coffee and maintains pleasant aromas,” Marquart told Perfect Daily Grind.
Marquart explained that salt in your coffee results in an effect called “crossmodal perception.” Your taste buds are exposed to bitterness and saltiness at the same time, causing the bitterness to tone down while other tastes get enhanced. This allows you to feel coffee’s natural sweetness.
While it seems like a radical idea, you should try adding salt to your coffee. This is especially if you can’t stand the bitterness or/and want to cut back on sugar and sweeteners. The recommended dose is half a teaspoon of salt for a large cup of coffee. Who knows? Maybe you will end up liking it.
