People think that making pie dough is hard, but all you need are two forks, cold butter, and 10-15 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fine salt
  • 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup of ice water

Instructions

  1. Start by cubing the butter and putting it into the freezer so it gets really cold and hard.
  2. In a bowl, add the flour, sugar, and salt, and mix well.
  3. Once the butter is pretty solid, add it into the bowl and using two forks, mix it into the dry ingredients. This will take about 5-7 minutes and the butter should end pea-sized.
  4. Then, add in 2-3 tablespoons of the water and super gently mix it into the flour.
  5. To test the flour to see if it’s done, squeeze a little bit between your fingers to see if it sticks together. If it doesn’t, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time until it does.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, turn the dough out and knead it gently until it forms a unified clump. It will still be a little crumbly, and that’s okay.
  7. Form it until a disk and wrap it in cling wrap, stick it in the freezer for an hour, and you’re ready to make a pie or save it for another day!

If there is any food that is associated with going camping, it has to be smores. Made with graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows, they evoke outdoor experiences and the happiness of spending time outdoors with your family and closest friends.

What many people don’t know, however, is that it’s totally possible to make smores even if you aren’t outside sitting around a campfire.

Here’s a recipe that’ll show you how to make smores in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Ingredients

  • Graham crackers
  • Chocolate Squares
  • Marshmallows
  • Wooden skewer

Instructions

Start off by taking your graham crackers and breaking them in half. This is the base of a proper smore, and what you’ll use for the “bread” of the sandwich.

Take one half of the graham cracker and set it on a plate. On top of this graham cracker half, put a square of either dark or milk chocolate (whichever you prefer!).

Now, you’ll want to take a large marshmallow and place it on one of the ends of a wooden skewer.

Go to your stove and turn it onto high heat.

Place the skewered marshmallow on top of the stove’s heat source and wait for it to heat up and momentarily catch fire.

Blow it out, and voila: you have your perfectly charred smore marshmallow.

Place the marshmallow on top of the chocolate, and then remove it from the skewer using the second graham cracker half.

Enjoy!

Magic layer bars are perfect for people who needs to make a dessert fast and with their own two hands to feel the satisfaction of baking something.

The best part about these bars is that they can be made with as little as 4 ingredients, but you can really make it your own. Feel free to add in coconut flakes, more types of nuts, butterscotch chips and more.

Recipe

Start off by throwing graham crackers into a food processor until there are 2 cups worth of crumbles. Alternatively, you can just put them in a big bag and smash them with a rolling pin if you want less things to clean up afterwards.

Put those in a bowl along with 1 cup or 6 oz of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips or chopped up pieces, 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or whatever nuts you have on hand, and 1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk.

Stir all the ingredients together until they are well mixed and then put them in a baking tin that has been well greased.

Bake the mixture for 25-30 minutes at 350 F, or until a toothpick comes out of the center clean. Wait for it to cool, slice into bars, and enjoy!

Some people love birthday cake all year round, and some people have had enough after just one bite. Donuts

Donuts are honestly one of the best gifts on earth. These soft, dreamy, fried dough rounds are so delicious and are so versatile. So why not make them the star of your birthday celebration instead of a cake? You can buy them from the grocery store or even make your own by frying up some biscuit dough and making a simple glaze!

Fruit

I will attempt this one day 😜 #fruitsaladcake

If you want to forgot the sugar altogether, you can do that and still have a beautiful cake to look at and devour. The only thing is, this cake isn’t a cake at all! It’s just the shape of a cake, but its contents are pure fruit.

All you have to do is cut a watermelon into rounds, as many as you want tiers, and layer them on top of each other. Decorate with other melons, berries, or whatever fruit you love most, and you have a jaw dropping center piece to any celebration.

Enjoy!

Fruit

If you want to forgot the sugar altogether, you can do that and still have a beautiful cake to look at and devour. The only thing is, this cake isn’t a cake at all! It’s just the shape of a cake, but its contents are pure fruit.

All you have to do is cut a watermelon into rounds, as many as you want tiers, and layer them on top of each other. Decorate with other melons, berries, or whatever fruit you love most, and you have a jaw dropping center piece to any celebration.
