People think that making pie dough is hard, but all you need are two forks, cold butter, and 10-15 minutes!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of fine salt
- 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup of ice water
Instructions
- Start by cubing the butter and putting it into the freezer so it gets really cold and hard.
- In a bowl, add the flour, sugar, and salt, and mix well.
- Once the butter is pretty solid, add it into the bowl and using two forks, mix it into the dry ingredients. This will take about 5-7 minutes and the butter should end pea-sized.
- Then, add in 2-3 tablespoons of the water and super gently mix it into the flour.
- To test the flour to see if it’s done, squeeze a little bit between your fingers to see if it sticks together. If it doesn’t, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time until it does.
- On a lightly floured surface, turn the dough out and knead it gently until it forms a unified clump. It will still be a little crumbly, and that’s okay.
- Form it until a disk and wrap it in cling wrap, stick it in the freezer for an hour, and you’re ready to make a pie or save it for another day!
