Warm up your winter nights with this comforting steak and ale pie—a satisfying meal that’s sure to please the whole family. It can be eaten hot on the night or eaten the next day, either way, it will be absolutely delicious! Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds of beef chuck steak
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of ale or stout beer
  • 2 cups of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef chuck steak pieces and sear until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if needed, then sauté the finely chopped onion, diced carrots, diced celery, and minced garlic until softened.
  2. Sprinkle the flour over the sautéed vegetables and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes to make a roux. Pour in the ale or stout beer, scraping the bottom of the skillet to loosen any browned bits. Let it simmer for a few minutes to cook off the alcohol.
  3. Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme. Return the seared beef to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer gently for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s large enough to cover your pie dish. Transfer the beef mixture to a pie dish. Brush the edges of the dish with beaten egg, then place the puff pastry over the top, pressing down gently to seal. Trim any excess pastry and crimp the edges with a fork.
  5. Brush the top of the pastry with more beaten egg for a golden finish. Cut a few slits in the center to allow steam to escape. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and flaky. Remove the steak and ale pie from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Slice into portions and enjoy the comforting flavors of this hearty winter dish.

Are you looking to surprise your family with a unique dish that will light up your weeknight dinners? If so, then this creamy steak fettuccine recipe is just for you.

Boil The Pasta

The first thing you’ll need is to get your hands on some fettuccine pasta. Buy as much pasta as your family needs, place it in some boiling salted water, and cook until al dente.

Add the Steak

For this recipe, you’ll need a juicy slice of sirloin steak. Coat both sides with oil and sprinkle salt and pepper. Cook at medium-high heat and allow it to cool for 10 minutes once done. Then, it’s time to cut the steak into thin, tender slices.

Add The Finishing Touches

Once both the steak and pasta are ready, it’s time to combine. If you’re looking for even more flavor, consider sprinkling some parmesan and parsley into the already delectable dish.

When she’s not filming or attending Hollywood parties, actress Courteney Cox likes to spend time in the kitchen and share some of her favorite recipes with social media users. That isn’t such a surprise considering Cox played chef Monica Geller for 10 seasons in the iconic sitcom Friends.

Recently, we stumbled upon Cox’s Instagram post in which she shared a steak recipe, and we liked it so much that we had to pass it on to you.

How to Cook a Steak Like Courteney Cox

Cox kicks things off by explaining that the recipe isn’t actually hers. She got it from musician Brandi Carlile, but it was so good that she tossed her old steak recipe and started using this one.

The recipe calls for New York or Ribeye steaks. You line the steaks in a deep pan and drizzle them with some truffle oil. If you don’t have truffle oil, olive oil will do just fine.

Next, season the steaks with a generous amount of salt and pepper before dusting them with brown sugar and finely ground coffee. The latter got us surprised as well, but it apparently works. All that’s left to do is grill the steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side, let them sit a bit, and dig in.

Note that Cox pairs her steaks with mashed cauliflower and asparagus, but you can have any side dish you like. Or none at all; it is up to you.

Doritos are a popular corn chip snack food that is enjoyed in many countries throughout the world where it is sold. While most Americans are familiar with conventional flavors like nacho cheese and sweet chili, the flavors in Japan are like nothing you’ve probably ever imagined.

Check out these crazy flavors which you can only find in Japan. Do you think you’d like them?

Sriracha

Sriracha is a popular Southeast Asian hot sauce that is made with a paste of chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, sugar, and water. This taste has made its way to Doritos in Japan, a country where this hot sauce has reached great popularity.

Black Garlic

Can you believe that black garlic has found its way onto a Dorito in Japan? This flavor, which contains chips that have been colored black, is an experience that will overwhelm your senses with sharp garlic flavor.

Steak

That’s right, steak-flavored Dorito chips are a thing in Japan. If you are a meat lover, there’s no doubt that you will immediately fall in love with the beefy flavor of these chips, which is strangely reminiscent of steak nachos.

Reverse searing steak is a really fun way to get creative with your steak. This works great for thicker cuts of steak that would normally take a long time to cook through, and since you’re cooking it in the oven first, you’re getting a really nice even temperature throughout before searing in all that deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 1 ribeye, New York strip, filet mignon, or porterhouse steak, 1 1/2-2 inches thick
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Recipe

  1. Put aluminum foil on a sheet pan and put a wire rack on top. Dry the steak and season generously and put on the rack.
  2. Put the rack into a 275 F oven on the middle rack, and in the lower one, put a cast-iron skillet.
  3. Cook for 15-25 minutes depending on how done you like your steak, then take out the skillet and steak.
  4. Over medium-high heat, heat up the oil in the skillet and when it starts to smoke, put in the steak.
  5. Sear for 2 minutes on the first side, put in the butter, and baste the other side.
  6. Cook the fatty sides of the steak too, then take the steak out, let it rest for 5-10 minutes, and slice away.

If you are a steak lover and you find yourself in France, a restaurant called L’Entrecôte is the place that you want to be.

This restaurant, which has five locations within the country located in the cities of Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Montpellier, and Lyon, serves up some of the best beef in the whole world, and it’s easy to see why.

L’Entrecôte’s menu doesn’t have too many items, but what it has is absolutely delicious. All diners that eat at one of these restaurants will receive a set menu order. It includes a walnut salad as a starter followed by a steak with french fries.

The walnut salad is a nice palate cleanser at the beginning, but the real show starts when your waiter or waitress brings a heaping plate of steak with the restaurant’s famous french fries. The steak, which is doused in a garlic butter sauce and served either rare, medium, or well-done, is the best steak that you could ever imagine at a restaurant.

It’s so juicy and tender, and the sirloin cut is served with a sauce that is delectable and unforgettable. Plus, the french fries are bottomless and even tastier when soaked in the garlicky butter sauce served with the steak.

Be sure to check out this gem the next time yourself in one of these French cities!

While yakiniku isn’t well-known outside of Japan, it’s undeniable that this Japanese gastronomic tradition is an integral part of the culture of food in the Land of the Rising Sun.

So, what exactly is yakiniku?

Well, to put it plainly, this tradition can be described as a form of Japanese BBQ. At a yakiniku restaurant or at a home where this type of food is prepared, diners participate in an interactive experience in which they grill premium-quality cuts of meat on a personal grill.

You might be thinking that yakiniku sounds pretty similar to Korean BBQ, and you’d be right. In fact, this tradition originated with Japanese people who brought this Korean tradition back to their home country. They’ve definitely managed to put their own twist on the art, however.

In Japan, yakiniku focuses largely on Wagyu beef products. As you may know, Wagyu beef is considered one of the most prestigious meats in the world, and its quality is on full display in yakiniku.

Beef is the king when it comes to Japanese BBQ, but you can also sometimes find other meat cubes from animals such as pigs, as well as offal products like beef heart. Commonly, diners choose to eat side dishes such as egg yolk rice, cabbage, and seaweed.

The meats are made even better when enjoyed with soy sauce and sesame-based dips that give this Japanese BBQ meat a final kick that is unforgettably good.

If you find yourself in Tokyo or near a Japanese BBQ restaurant, give it a try and enjoy one of the most unforgettable meals of your life.

If one were to make a list of the simple pleasures in life, a delicious, flame-grilled steak would be near the top of the list.

Unfortunately, the preparation of a steak can go wrong for several reasons, from the freshness of the beef to the duration of the meat’s cooking time.

One critical mistake that’s easy to avoid with a little bit of knowledge is a badly-seasoned steak. Overwhelming seasoning mixes can take one’s attention away from the quality of the meat, and underseasoned meat can be bland and unappetizing.

Choosing the right blend of herbs and spices to season a steak will highlight the meat’s best qualities and complement the steak’s flavors without overwhelming them. Knowing how to do this is truly half of the battle when learning how to prepare a proper steak.

So, without further ado, here are our recommendations for the best herbs and spices to use when seasoning a dry-rub steak.

  • Kosher Salt
  • Freshly-ground black pepper
  • Rosemary
  • Garlic Powder
  • Sage

These herbs and spices work together to bring out the juiciness and flavor of a good steak. Be sure to season about an hour before putting your steak on the grill. Happy eating!

Sriracha

Sriracha is a popular Southeast Asian hot sauce that is made with a paste of chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, sugar, and water. This taste has made its way to Doritos in Japan, a country where this hot sauce has reached great popularity.

Black Garlic

Salt and pepper are key when preparing a steak anywhere. Season it before you start cooking the meat. It will really bring out the taste and make your meal much more delicious.
