]]>Slice your potatoes into french fries and boil them until potatoes on the stove for 5-10 minutes in hot water before you roast them. This will help move along the cooking process and make them extra crispy.
Prepare for extra grease! Add about a cup of cooking oil such as avocado or olive oil to your cookie sheet and put in the oven on its own for a few minutes to sizzle up. Then once its sizzling throw your potatoes in it and coat with the hot oil and various spices. Continue the cooking process for another 20-35 minutes.
For the last ten minutes of the cooking process, put your potatoes on the top rack of the oven to get extra crispy on top without burning. This step is crucial, and you must watch the potatoes and baste every few minutes so they cook evenly and do not burn! Make sure to check the potatoes frequently until they have the crispiness you desire! Take them out of the oven, let them cool, and garnish with some coarse salt and enjoy!

]]>Instead of reheating them in the oven and waiting for the oven to heat up and the fries to get crispy, use a pan to reheat them. It takes less time and it’s much more efficient. It takes just minutes and your fries will be hot and crispy without being dry and burnt.
When reheating them in the pan, there’s no need to add oil. You’re not refrying the fries, you’re just reheating them. Besides, they already have tons of oil on them. Just toss the fries every 30 seconds or so to keep them moving. You’ll know they’re done when they start clanking around the pan. This happens because the moisture on the surface dries up.
Say goodbye to soggy, room-temperature fries and hello to crispy ones that taste like they’ve just been fried!

]]>For good fries, you need good potatoes. Russet or Idaho potatoes are the best to use—just ask McDonald’s. Peel the potatoes and cut them into slices that are around ¼-inch thick.
Get a bowl of ice-cold water (filled with ice cubes) and dunk in your potato slices.
Once they’ve been in the ice bath, it’s time to transfer the potatoes to the hot tub. Pour white vinegar and salt into some boiling water and add the potatoes. Leave them for just a couple of minutes to soften.
Once slightly soft (we don’t want them falling apart), remove the slices from the water and pat them dry. Then, coat them in potato starch as this will make them extra crispy!
Make sure your oil is at 350°F and drop in the potatoes. Allow them to go golden and pour salt over the fries immediately after removing them from the oil. If you want to add more flavor, throw in minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, paprika, and fresh coriander.

]]>Fries are a bit of a breakaway from Taco Bell’s regular offering of tacos and burritos, but the Mexican-inspired chain introduced nacho fries in 2018. Since then, the heavily spiced potato sticks with a cheesy dipping sauce have popped up periodically, always for a limited time.
That could be about to change though.
The franchise recently added its Mexican pizza to its permanent menu, and nacho fries could be the next item to receive the honor. It comes as Taco Bell aims to compete with other chains, like McDonald’s, who are extremely popular for their fries.
“People that go to lunch want to have French fries. We know that,” stated Taco Bell CEO, Mark King. “We’re looking at and testing bringing fries permanently on to the menu, which would increase our lunch business dramatically. If you were to look at how we compete against McDonald’s in dinner and late night, we’re absolutely even. When you look at breakfast and lunch, we’re significantly behind. There’s a big opportunity just in those two dayparts to increase our business significantly over the coming years.”
We’re crossing our fingers that these fries stick around!

]]>Unless you’re using frozen French fries, the potatoes you choose make all the difference. You should go for a potato type that doesn’t contain too much starch, and yellow-fleshed potatoes are usually the best choice.
After choosing potatoes, it’s important to cut them right. By making them similar in size, you’re making sure they’ll cook evenly and you should stick to half a centimeter per fry.
It’s crucial to let your potatoes soak in water for at least half an hour before you fry them because this allows them to lose some of the starch.
You might be tempted to put all your fries in a pan and call it a day, but you shouldn’t do it if there’s not enough room. Fries need some space to cook evenly and they shouldn’t overlap.
Your French fries will be bland and boring without seasoning, and it’s usually best to salt them a few minutes after frying them and giving them some time to cool down.

]]>“We decided to take a deep dive into what it takes to create these golden, salty, downright potato-y fries,” the outlet writes. “Thanks to intel from MythBusters’ Grant Imahara, we were able to dig into the process and figure out how to engineer the best french fry we could. Are you brave enough to try this at home? Watch our video to find out how to recreate the magic!”
The recipe uses Idaho russet potatoes, so we recommend you find them for the best result. The original McDonald’s fries require over 14 different ingredients, but this recipe is less complicated. Soaking the fries in the sugar water solution before cooking them sounds surprising, but it adds a lot of flavor. You may also wonder if it’s really necessary to remove the fries from the fryer when they’re half-done, but this is also necessary if you want to replicate the original taste and texture.
Will you try making you own fries or do you prefer grabbing some in McDonald’s instead?

]]>Reheating the fries in the oven will leave you with carboard-tasting old fries that can’t fool anyone. If you attempt to refry them, you will only add more oil to a caloric meal and all that for a mediocre taste. But if you have a waffle maker, you may be able to do something about them.
Reheating the fries in the waffle maker is easy and straightforward. Although they won’t taste like a fresh batch, this is a quick and convenient way to use up leftover fries for a quick after-work dinner.
Turn the waffle maker on and adjust the heat setting to the highest. Once it’s hot, place the fries in the center and close the lid. The fries will get golden brown, which is how you know they are done. Serve warm.
