French toast is definitely one of my favorite breakfast treats. It’s so simple to make, and it reminds me of childhood Saturday mornings with cartoons and pajamas.

Now that I’m an adult and I have a bit of a more refined palate than I did when I was young, the monotony of french toast with maple syrup can get a bit old. So, I like to branch out and experiment with other toppings.

Here are some suggestions for putting a twist on a classic plate of french toast.

Raspberries and Dark Chocolate Syrup

Raspberries and dark chocolate go together perfectly, and plopping them onto a slice of french toast takes the flavor game to the next level. The tartness of the raspberries ensures that the dish isn’t too sweet. It’s decadent and delicious.

Cinnamon Butter

One of french toast’s building blocks is cinnamon, and there’s nothing wrong with amping up that flavor a little bit! I like making rich cinnamon butter for my french toast, especially in autumn when it’s in fashion.

Vanilla Ice Cream

Want to turn your french toast into a dessert? Putting a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top makes for a decadent treat that works so well. If you’re feeling crazy, you could even sprinkle some chocolate-covered espresso beans on top!

Pan Tumaca, a classic Spanish breakfast dish that is served in homes and cafeterias throughout the country, is easy to prepare, savory, and delicious. Let’s learn how to make it!

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of fresh bread
  • 1 tomato
  • 1.5 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Salt, to taste

  3. When the bread is toasted, rub the garlic cloves on the sliced bread to give it a little bit of garlic essence.

Did you know you could use your waffle iron to make more than just waffles for breakfast? Here’s how!

Eggs

To make your waffle iron eggs, just scramble them like you usually do, and add in any milk or cheese you like, along with salt and pepper, then just pour the mixture into the waffle iron and cook on low for just 4-5 minutes until they’re light and fluffy.

Hash Browns

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqxw3gSBmF4/

There’s nothing more fun than having hash browns in the morning, and you can make them super easily in the waffle iron as well! All you have to do is grate some potatoes, and squeeze out as much water as possible. Mix with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder, and put them right into the waffle iron! Cook for about 12 minutes or until they’re golden and crispy.

Gluten-Free Waffles

This waffle recipe could not be more simple! All you have to do is mash a banana, mix in an egg, and add in ground gluten-free oats until it forms a batter. Put it into the waffle iron for just 3-5 minutes until they’re light and fluffy and perfect!

French toast is one of my favorite treats for breakfast. While it obviously isn’t something that you can eat for breakfast every morning, when you want something sweet and different, it’s hard to go wrong with french toast.

One of my favorite twists to put on this classic recipes is to combine it with chocolate, which creates a cinnamony, chocolately, eggy treat that you won’t soon forget. Here’s how to make it!

Ingredients

  • 10 slices of thickly-cut bread
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 ml chocolate milk
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. Start off by cracking the eggs into a shallow bowl and then adding the chocolate milk, white sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  2. Place a large frying pan on medium-high heat and place a generous amount of butter inside, waiting for it to melt.
  3. Once your liquid mixture is consistent and ready, go ahead and take a couple of slices of bread and dip them quickly (1-2 seconds) on each side.
  4. When the pieces of bread have been dipped, transfer them into the frying pan that contains butter. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the sides acquire a golden-brown color.
  5. After you’ve taken the first two slices of bread out, replenish the butter in the pan and repeat this step after each subsequent slice removal.

Enjoy!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably found that it’s easy to fall into a monotonous and boring breakfast habit. Instead of experimenting with new flavors and recipes, it’s way too tempting to keep making the same boring breakfasts due to a lack of time and inspiration.

One idea that I’ve used to break up the boring breakfast trend recently is this banana breakfast sandwich recipe. Check it out and give it a try!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BumRR6phhmE/

Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole-grain bread
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 medium banana
  • 5 grams butter

You’ll also need a panini grill to make this recipe!

Instructions

Your first step to making this recipe is to spread just a tiny bit of butter on the outside of each piece of bread. This will allow it to get nice and golden once it’s gone into the panini grill.

Next, take the banana and slice it into medium-thick pieces.

After this, you’ll want to spread the natural peanut butter on the inside of one of the pieces of bread. Once you’ve done so, place the banana slices on top of the peanut butter.

On the inside of the other piece of bread, spread the tablespoon of honey. Place this slice of bread on top of the slice that contains the bananas and peanut butter, and stick your sandwich inside of the panini grill.

Whether you’re a fan of smoothie bowls, chia seed pudding, or old fashioned oatmeal, you are starting your day on the right foot by consuming any one of these dishes.

And if you want to make your breakfast even more nutritious, there are some secrets to increasing your nutrition absorption and getting your day to an even better start.

Chia Seeds

Whether you’re sprinkling them on top of something or using them as the base of a pudding, soaking them for 10-20 minutes before you use them will help them bloom and become easier to digest. Soaking them also helps to slow down digestion, which will make you feel fuller faster.

Flax Seeds

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuCXwYEAxYJ/

Flax seeds are a great way to add protein to your breakfasts, but make sure to grind them before you add them to smoothies or anything of the like. This is because the tough outer shell cannot be digested in our bodies, so we have to help it out by crushing it either in a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.

Oatmeal

Even though oats don’t take long to cook, by soaking them beforehand you help your body to digest them much easier, as well as being able to absorb the nutrients faster and more easily.

Flax Seeds

Flax seeds are a great way to add protein to your breakfasts, but make sure to grind them before you add them to smoothies or anything of the like. This is because the tough outer shell cannot be digested in our bodies, so we have to help it out by crushing it either in a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.

Oatmeal

Even though oats don’t take long to cook, by soaking them beforehand you help your body to digest them much easier, as well as being able to absorb the nutrients faster and more easily.

French toast is that classic breakfast treat that you don’t necessarily have every day, but when you do, you savor every bite. French toast is actually really easy to make, and you can even use old stale bread which means that you’d be making less food waste. With only three main ingredients required, this french toast is a slam dunk.

Recipe

  1. Start by slicing your bread into equal pieces if you’re using a whole loaf.
  2. In a shallow dish or large shallow bowl, mix together 2 eggs, 2/3 cup of whatever type of milk you have, as well as any additional flavorings. These can be nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla extract, cloves, etc.
  3. Heat up a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and put some butter on it.
  4. Place each slice of bread into the egg mixture and make sure to coat each side.
  5. Put the slice on the pan or griddle and cook on each side for a few minutes until they’re golden.
  6. Keep them in the oven on a low temperature to keep them warm while you make the rest so you can serve them hot.
  7. Dab on some butter or whipped cream, along with the classic maple syrup and you’re ready for brunch!
