If you’re constantly in a rush and need to start your day off with a quick and easy breakfast, cereal is your best bet. Unfortunately, its main downside is that it’s not extremely healthy, but you can make things a little bit better by paying attention to these three things when buying your next box.

Low on Sugar

Even if you’re a huge fan of all things sweet, cereals with extremely high sugar content are best avoided. Never buy cereals with over 5 grams of sugar per serving, because they often contain refined sugars and artificial flavorings. It’s better to stick to adding sweetness to your cereal with natural toppings.

High on Fiber

You should always aim for a fiber-rich breakfast, and if cereal happens to be your go-to food, make sure it contains at least 4 grams of fiber per serving. You can also try to increase its fiber content by adding fruit to the mix and using them to top your cereal.

Whole Grains

If you don’t have time to thoroughly examine the labels and want to know if cereal is healthy or not from the get-go, look for whole-grain verities. They’re usually the healthiest possible option on the market because they haven’t lost their healthy nutrients during production.
