The combination of coffee and apple might be a surprising one, but trust us: this one is a winner. It’s ideal with a cup of coffee or even served as an after-dinner treat.
2/3 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ cup cold butter
2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
2/3 cup water or milk
3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
2 medium cooking apples, peeled, thinly sliced to make 2 cups
2 Tablespoons walnuts, chopped
½ cup powdered sugar
2–3 teaspoons milk
Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray a 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. Mix streusel ingredients together and crumble with two forks.
For the cake, beat together the Bisquick mix, water or milk, sugar and egg until just mixed. Spread half the batter onto the bottom of the pan. Arrange the apple slices on the batter, sprinkle with half the streusel, and top with remaining batter. Sprinkle over the rest of the streusel, and then top with chopped walnuts.
Bake for about 25 minutes until a skewer or toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 20 minutes.
Mix together the glaze ingredients until smooth, and then drizzle over the still-warm cake.
