With fall in the air, apples are in season! The fruit has a reputation for keeping doctors away, but there is much more that these little babies are capable of. One of them is this smooth and sweet apple butter which will turn toast (or anything else!) into a feast.

Ingredients:

  • 5 pounds apples
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into quarters.  Cut them smaller if they are really big.
  2. Place the apple slices in a slow cooker and cook for 6-8 hours, stirring every couple of hours.
  3. Once cooked, blend the softened apples with the sugar, vanilla, and spices.
  4. Spoon into jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to a year.
