While it may seem as if baking powder is a staple ingredient in any kitchen, you might not realize that you’ve run out the next time you need it. Here are some close substitutes that you can use so as not to cancel your baking plans.

Lemon Juice And Baking Soda

Firstly, it’s important to note that baking soda is different from baking powder. By mixing half a teaspoon of lemon juice with every quarter teaspoon of baking soda, however, you can concoct a similar mixture.

Club Soda

Because this beverage already contains baking soda, all you have to do is add it to a pancake mix or waffle batter to get it baking-ready.

Self-Rising Flour

What’s great about self-rising flour is that it serves as a direct replacement for baking powder. Be warned, however, that if you use this substitute, then you must not use any baking powder or baking soda in your recipe.
