Roasted asparagus is one of the simplest, yet most elegant and delicious side dishes. It’s also virtually dummy-proof and takes less than 15 minutes to prepare. In addition to the benefits we’ve already mentioned, this vegetable is also packed with nutrients, such as vitamin A. vitamin C, and glutathione, a powerful anti-carcinogen and antioxidant.

You probably think roasting asparagus is pretty straightforward and you are not wrong. Still, there are a few pointers to keep in mind to get the best possible results.

Prep Your Asparagus

Snap or cut the woody ends of your asparagus. Coat the spear with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper. Allow some space between spears so that the hot air can circulate and create crips and beautifully roasted spears.

Cook It

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The amount of time it will take for the asparagus to be ready depends on the size of the stalk. The official sizes of asparagus range from small to jumbo.

Extra-large stalks can take 8-10 minutes to be fully roasted, while standard stalks take about 6-8 minutes. Oven roasting is not recommended for small stalks because they will become brittle and stringy.

When done, the spears should be bright green and tender to the touch. If this isn’t the case, cook for an extra one or two minutes.
