Even if the religion has been around for thousands of years, traditional foods vary from region to region. A case in point is this Persian charoset which Iraqi Jews serve at Passover. Deviating from the classic apple-based version, this charoset will be a hit at your Seder.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup date syrup (silan)
  • 1 cup raw walnuts
  • 1 cup raw pecans

Instructions:

  1. Place the walnuts and pecans in a food processor and pulse 3-4 times. You are looking for a chunky texture.
  2. Pour the date syrup into a serving bowl and cover with the nut mixture.
