Autumn is just around the corner, which means that the variety of products that you might see at your local farmer’s market will drastically change. Gone will be summer produce and in will step fall favorites that warm our hearts every year. Here are some things you should definitely pick up this autumn at the farmer’s market.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are at their best in fall, giving you a fantastic option for making fall-centric side dishes such as sweet potato casserole or baked sweet potatoes with cinnamon and butter. Yum!
Pears
While a lot of fruits aren’t at their best in the fall season, pears certainly are. There’s nothing like the crispy, juicy crunch of a ripe pear just in time for a brisk afternoon.
Kiwis
Another exception to the fruit rule is kiwis, which are in season in the Northern Hemisphere in fall. These sour, tangy fruits originate from Australia but are now grown in temperate climates throughout the world.
Apple Cider
This drink is a fall classic, made with an in-season fruit, cinnamon, and cloves. There’s nothing quite as enjoyable when the mercury goes down and the leaves begin to change as a glass of warm apple cider.
