Rosie Madaschi Makes “Sugar & Salt Cookies”

Rosie Madaschi runs her baking brand Sugar & Salt Cookies. She first started baking in 2013, when she made desserts for her son’s 1st birthday. She fell in love with the whole process from making desserts to styling them, and she just kept doing it.

“In 2015 my business was officially born. Initially I specialized in cookies, yet over time and with much practice, I began to incorporate many other desserts and sweets into my menu,” Madaschi writes on her website.

Ok so the story about these that made me cry.. I'd had surgery 9 days prior. I had two orders booked in before I'd booked my surgery. They were for a 40th and 21st, so I felt terrible cancelling. My surgeon told me it would be fine as long as I took it easy, went slowly and didn't put too much strain on my arms. Anyway I was reaching for the last cone to pipe onto and my arms were feeling a little weak, so one bent and knocked over a cone. You can imagine the domino effect that followed. ALL RUINED. Most of them fell to the floor and smashed. Made a second batch and all went well. I set them up to photograph with a white board as the backdrop. Once finished, I grabbed one to start packaging and knocked the board over by accident. ALL SMASHED. I actually screamed so loud that my husband thought I was being murdered. I believe in fate and signs and all that stuff, so for me this was the world's way of telling me I wasn't ready to go back to work. I took a week off after that and am officially working again as of this week, but until further notice I will be taking very limited bookings. I love what I do so much, but sometimes these things have to be sacrificed for our wellbeing. I know too many women who are burnt out from taking on too much, trying to juggle a million things and stay sane at the same time. We need to be kinder to ourselves and learn that it's ok to say no ✌❤
