Churros are a magnificent Spanish dessert that is somewhere between a choux pastry and a donut. They are crunchy, soft in the middle, and all-around satisfying. Making them at home is actually really simple, so give them a shot!
Ingredients
1 cup of water
6 tablespoons of unsalted butter
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of salt
2 eggs
Vegetable oil
Recipe
In a pot over medium heat, add the water, butter, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, add in the vanilla, and then turn off the heat.
With a wooden spoon, mix in the flour and salt and stir for about 30 seconds.
Allow the mixture to cool for 10-15 minutes before adding in the eggs one a time, whisking to combine.
Pour the batter into a piping bag.
Fill up a medium-sized heavy-bottom pot halfway with oil and bring it to 375 F.
Squeeze the dough out of the piping bag right into the oil and use a pair of scissors to cut them off.
Fry on each side until golden brown, take them out and drain on paper towels.
Serve with a chocolate dipping sauce or eat them on their own!
