These Paris Restaurants Have Vegan Takes on French Classics

French food is often regarded as some of the best in the world and the country’s influence on other global cuisine has been significant to say the least. As delicious as it may be, it’s definitely not the most vegan-friendly. Fortunately, over the last few years, plant-based food has become increasingly popular, leading plenty of Parisian cafes to create vegan versions of classic French pastries and dishes. Be sure to give them a try should you find yourself in the City of Light anytime soon.

Le Potager du Marais

This restaurant has been serving up vegan and vegetarian versions of French dishes for almost 20 years, so they’ve got to be doing something right. We especially love their seitan roast over “sauce au poivre,” which means pepper sauce.

VG Pâtisserie

What says “Paris” more than croissants?! All of our favorite indulgent French pastries reimagined without butter and eggs. Don’t skip on the pain au chocolat—croissants filled with chocolate.

42 Degrés

It’s not France without cheese, and this raw vegan restaurant offers five different plant-based versions of our favorites. Order the platter to try them all with condiments, bread, and crackers.
