Living an eco-friendly lifestyle usually doesn’t get talked about when someone is making cocktails. But, even then, it’s easy to become wasteful so don’t fall into that trap! Use all of what you have to the fullest and you’ll help save the Earth without sacrificing your drink. Use these tips and tricks for your next cocktail party and prepare to be amazed.

Avocado Pit Orgeat

Avocado’s don’t usually find their way into cocktails, but that’s now all in the past. Orgeat is an essential ingredient to drinks like a Trinidad sour or royal pearl. This almond-flavored syrup can actually be made easily with an avocado pit. Since an avocado pit has a high water content, you can grind them in a food processor or strong blender. Toast the shreds for a few minutes on the stove to bring out the nuttiness, combine with water and sugar and you’re done!

Citrus Infused Vodka

There’s no better way to reinforce a flavor in a cocktail than by starting with a naturally flavored liquor. For an easy infused drink, use whatever citrus husks you have on hand, blanch them and add them to a jar of vodka. After a few weeks in a dark place, you’ll have the perfect screwball or whatever else you fancy.
