Cocktail mixers have drastically improved over the past few years. There are many new companies, often run by former bartenders, that now make high-quality mixers that are much better than the stuff you could get a decade ago. Their goal is not to mask the taste of liquor, but to make the entire cocktail better and more flavorful. Here are some of our favorites.
Asarasi
Asarasi sparkling water doesn’t come from a spring but from maple trees. The sugar gets filtered out and the water is carbonated and enhanced with flavors: lemon, cherry lime, and pink grapefruit. It mixes well with anything you used to mix with soda water and it makes a perfect spritzer.
Fever Tree
Fever Tree has been making beverages since 2005, and their latest product is Distillers Cola, which is designed to be mixed with spirits like rum and whiskey. The quality of their cola drink enhances the flavor of fine aged drinks and it’s not meant to cover the taste of bad-quality spirits.
Olipop
Olipop’s soda drinks are low in sugar and designed to help with digestive health problems thanks to prebiotics, botanical extracts, and fiber from plants. Try this non-ordinary soda with root beer or bourbon.
