Beer Will Make Your Mac and Cheese Even Better

If you love beer, listen up because this is a brilliant way to use the beverage. It’s hard to go wrong with mac and cheese, but the good news is, there are also ways to make it unbelievable. One such method involves adding beer. Trust us—you’ll never want mac and cheese without a pint ever again!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pasta
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • 2 cups Gouda, grated
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup beer of choice
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Boil the pasta until al dente, reserving some of the pasta water. 
  2. Sauté the mushrooms until caramelized. 
  3. Add in the flour and cook for one minute. Then, add the beer and simmer until the alcohol smell is gone. 
  4. Pour in the milk and bring to a simmer. Add in the salt and pepper. 
  5. Turn off the heat and pour in the cheese, stirring until melted. And in the mustard and stir to combine. 
  6. Finally, add in the cooked pasta and some of the water and coat in the sauce.
