Cooking can take longer if you are not prepared. Most times, it is almost impossible to prepare everything in advance. These hacks will save you a lot of time in the kitchen:

Make Powdered Sugar

If you need powdered sugar urgently, you can use a spice grinder to pulverize cubed sugar.

Chill the pan

In the process of sautéing onions, if they begin to get brown, you can reduce the heat by tossing an ice cube. This chills the pan fast and keeps your onions from browning too much.

Use a serrated knife

Regular knives can become blunt in a short time. If you need to cut something in the kitchen and cant sharpen your knife, use the serrated knife. It has a saw-like blade that does a better job than straight knives.

Ripen bananas fast

Do you need to bake banana bread? The bananas need to be ripe enough. Store the fruits on a plate or parchment lined pan. Toss it in the oven or microwave for some minutes. This speed ripens them. They are ready when the skin blackens.

Cook stock overnight

You don’t need to keep checking on your stock every 5 minutes. You can cook it while you sleep. Place the stock ingredients in the oven and bake overnight at 225°. When you wake up, skim, strain and take to room temperature before refrigerating.
