If you’re a fan of fruity snacks but want to skip the artificial colors and flavors, making your own fruit roll-ups at home is a delicious and healthier alternative. These homemade fruit roll-ups are simple to make and packed with natural goodness. Here’s how to make them.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups ripe fruit (such as strawberries, mangoes, or berries)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on the sweetness of the fruit)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to the lowest temperature setting. This is typically around 140°F (60°C) or the “warm” setting.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Wash and chop the fruit into small pieces, removing any pits, stems, or seeds.
- Place the chopped fruit in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- If desired, add the lemon juice and sweetener (honey or maple syrup) to the fruit puree and blend again until well combined.
- Pour the fruit puree onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly with a spatula. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 4-6 hours, or until the fruit puree is set and no longer sticky to the touch.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the fruit sheet cool completely.
- Once cooled, use a sharp knife or kitchen scissors to cut the fruit sheet into strips or desired shapes.
- Roll each strip tightly and wrap it in parchment paper or plastic wrap to keep it fresh.
- Store the homemade fruit roll-ups in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
