Toffee candy bars are such a yummy treat and have not only a great flavor, but awesome textures! Making them at home is super easy and you only need 5 ingredients to get the job done, which makes it even sweeter.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1 cup of butter or vegan butter substitute
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, any type depending on your preference
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts, pecans or any type of nuts you like
Recipe
- To make the toffee part of the candy bars, combine the water, butter, and sugar in a saucepan and bring it to a boil while stirring it.
- Then, lower it to medium, continue to stir, and cook for 10-13 minutes until it reaches 300 F on a candy thermometer.
- Then, quickly pour the mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet and spread it out until it is 1/4 inch thick.
- Evenly pour the chocolate chips over the toffee mixture, wait 1 minute until they start to soften, and then spread that on top of the toffee mixture to create another layer.
- Finally, add the chop nuts to the top of the layers and leave it out for 1 hour to harden completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!
